Melanie Müller is working for the Intellectual Property law firm BOEHMERT & BOEHMERT as a German Attorney at Law. Her professional work focuses on Patent, Trademark, Competition, and Trade Secret Law. Her expertise extends to assisting clients both within and outside the EU.

Melanie Müller studied law at the University of Bremen with a focus on International and European Business Law and completed her legal clerkship at the Hanseatic Higher Regional Court in Bremen.

Since July 2021, she has been working on her doctoral thesis on the topic of "Innovation in (im)balance? The influence of compensation and injunctive relief on the German patent system“.

As of May 1, 2022, she has taken on the role of a lecturer in Intellectual Property law at Bucerius Law School (BLS) in Hamburg, with a primary focus on Patent Law. Since 2024 she is a lecturer at the University of Bremen for the LLM-Master Program “Transnational Law”.

In addition, Müller is co-editor of the Handbook "Trade Secrets Throughout the World" alongside Prof. Dr. Heinz Goddar and is a member of Licensing Executives Society Germany (LES Germany), the Association Internationale pour la Protection de la Propriété Intellectuelle (AIPPI), Association of Intellectual Property Experts (VPP), and the Federal Circuit Bar Association® (FCBA).

Melanie Müller was appointed as "standing patent expert" for the China IP SME Helpdesk of the EU Commission in 2024. She is also a member of the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center Young.
