China is preparing an ambitious codification of its entire environmental law. Prof. Dr. Gerd Winter has met with members of the drafting committee several times to advise them from the perspective of European environmental law. He was commissioned by the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) to write an expert opinion on the current draft, which comprises 1,188 articles, highlighting the differences and similarities between Chinese and European law.

On 23 October 2025, the teams of the University of Bremen visited labour law expert Ulrike Brinkmann at GÖHMANN lawyers at the Bremen Cotton Exchange in preparation for the moot court at the Federal Labour Court in January 2026.

Frederick Rieländer presented his lecture „Towards a Coherent Choice-of-Law Framework for Property Disputes over Digital Assets" at the conference. Thus, a scholar from the University of Bremen played a key role in the anniversary conference of the Journal of Private International Law. The Journal of Private International Law 20th Anniversary Conference took place from September 11-13, 2025, at the Faculty of Law of University College London.

The President of the Federal Social Court, Dr. Christine Fuchsloch, presented her vision of the future of the welfare state and opened it up for discussion in Bremen. On the invitation of Bremen labour law and social law work groups, and in cooperation with bigas, the lecture provided an interesting and highly topical contribution to the current public debate and met with great interest in Bremen on 24 September 2025.

From 7 to 13 September 2025 the 2nd International Summer School of the Sustainable Welfare and Eco-Social Policy Network (ECOWELFARE) „Social Policy and Ecological Sustainability“ took place at the University of Bremen.

The students Claudius Maximilian Dirks and Arap Ali Yilmaz of the University of Bremen have won the 14th Justus Liebig Moot Court, which was held as a nationwide student competition at the University of Giessen on 23 and 24 July 2025. This is the first time in the history of the Justus Liebig Moot Court that the prize for the winning team, worth €1,500.00, has been won by a team of the University of Bremen.

Research at international top level is carried out at Forum am Domshof - this is a result of the current Times Higher Education ranking where the Bremen Faculty of Law is listed among the top ten percent worldwide and takes first place among German universities.

On the occassion of the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the Kazakhstan constitution by referendum on 30 August 1995, Prof. Rolf Knieper was awarded a medal of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
