This presentation draws on an international research project that explores human movements between major urban settings, beyond the classical dual perspective of sending/receiving countries. Using ethnographic data gathered in Berlin, Lisbon, Luanda and Sydney, the presentation aims discussing how and to what extent material culture and consumption practices are implicated in the expectations, imaginaries and experiences of present-day migration movements to and from Portugal.
