"Rights of Nature and Human Rights" by Augustín Grijalva Jiménez

On Wednesday, July 20 at 5 p.m., former Ecuadorian constitutional judge Agustín Grijalva Jiménez will give a lecture on Rights of Nature and Human Rights at the department.

The public lecture opens the international conference "Struggling for rights of nature: Social movements, subjective rights and the emancipatory potential of law" organised in the framework of the DFG-funded project "Nature as a Legal Person". During two days, scholars and practitioners from different disciplines will discuss the potential role of rights of nature n the struggles of social and ecological movements. Grijalva Jiménez is a renowned expert in the field. As a judge at the Ecuadorian Constitutional Court, he has been involved in the drafting of numerous landmark rulings on the rights of nature.
