NW1, Otto-Hahn-Allee 1 (sowie Zoom-Übertragung, Zugangsdaten unter physkoll@uni-bremen.de) Kategorie: Physikalisches Kolloquium Prof. Dr. Rupert Ursin (Österreichische Akademie der Wissenschaften, Wien) Quantum experiments at zero gravity and in space Abstract: Photonic quantum optics experiments to test entanglement at micro- and hyper-gravity have been conducted in a drop-tower in Dresden and in a centrifuge in Ranshofen, Austria. Recently we also conducted an experiment testing hyper-entanglement onboard of an ZeroG flight of the European Space Agency. I will present the physics, the analysis and the conclusions we have been able to draw so far in my presentation. If time allows and if it interested people I will also speak about quantum communication experiments, the most mature field of quantum optics today. I will describe some recent terrestrial experiments using those hyper-entangled states again to possibly exploit them for future day-light quantum-cryptography demonstrations to- and from satellites. The European Commission set out with the project EuroQCI to install a pan-europeans quantum communication network including an important space segment, where Quantum Technology Laboratories GmbH - where I happen to be a co-founder - takes a leading role. I will talk about the current status, it’s current shape and the big question, why suddenly these huge investments seem necessary. mehr
