The entire Chemical Process Engineering working group congratulates PhD student Maria Kepper on completing her doctoral thesis, in which she investigated particle separation in suspensions using dielectrophoresis (DEP). To do this, she used DEP cells filled with solid packings and compared the separation efficiency as a function of the shape of the grains. She also used the knowledge gained to separate lithium iron phosphate and graphite particles from suspensions, which is particularly relevant with regard to the recycling of rechargeable batteries.
