Student assistant for MAPEX

We are looking for a student assistant for the MAPEX Center for Materials and Processes to start working in December 2020 with 20-40 hours per month for 6 month or longer.

Data-based design of materials and processes for the exploration of inhospitable environments

3 PhD positions (f/m/d) are available at the University of Bremen as part of an interdisciplinary research team that focuses on the development of functional materials for space applications.

The salary is according to Entgeltgruppe 13 TV-L, full equivalnet.

The time limitation is based on § 2 (1) WissZeitVG (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz, i.e. temporary science employment act). Therefore, candidates may only be considered who dispose of the respective scope of qualification periods according to § 2 (1) WissZeitVG.

The projects are part of the APF priority program “Materials on Demand – Data-based design of materials and processes for the exploration of inhospitable environments”, funded by the state Bremen, and are embedded within the MAPEX Center for Materials and Processes of the University of Bremen. The projects focus on the rational design of ceramic/polymer composite materials with tailored properties for space applications.

Proojekt 1 (A249/20):
Design and production of ceramic/polymer composite materials for the protection from and the sensing of ionizing space radiation. Supervisors: Dr. Michael Maas, Advanced Ceramics, University of Bremen

Supervisors: Prof. Dr. Kurosch Rezwan und Prof. Dr. Bernd Mayer, Fachbereich 4 Produktionstechnik.

Projekt 2 (A250/20):
Quantum chemical calculations on the stability of open-shell molecular and periodic systems for the development of functional materials for space applications

Supervisor: Prof. Dr. Tim Stauch, Fachbereich 2 Biologie/Chemie.

Projekt 3 (Kennziffer A251/20):
Strahlungsanalyse und Materialtests in der Complex Irradiation Facility des Deutschen Zentrums für Luft- und Raumfahrt Bremen.

Supervisor: Prof. Dr. Andreas Rittweger, Fachbereich 4 Produktionstechnik.

Contributions to teaching activities in fundamental and advanced courses of the University of Bremen are expected.
