First Congress of the German Society for East European Studies in Berlin

On October 6 and 7, the first Congress of the German Society for East European Studies took place in Berlin. Prof. Dr. Michael Rochlitz co-organized the congress, and moderated the opening panel.

Although the region of Eastern Europe plays an important role for Germany, there has been no scientific conference in Germany to discuss existing research on the region in an interdisciplinary way. For this reason, the first congress of the German Society for Eastern European Studies (DGO) was now held at the Institute for East European Studies of the Freie Universität Berlin on October 6 and 7, 2022. The conference combines the fields of economics, law, history, geography, politics, sociology, literature, culture and religion, and will take place every two years. Prof. Dr. Michael Rochlitz from the Faculty of Business Studies and Economics conceptually organized the conference together with 4 colleagues; since October 2022 he is also co-chair of the economics section of the DGO.
