Background: In recent years, digital technologies developed specifically for public health purposes have emerged on a large scale. Digital public health (DiPH) technologies can help us address major public health challenges, including population aging, the dual burden of non-communicable and communicable diseases, and the health impacts of climate change. In addition, DiPH technologies offer valuable opportunities to enhance and complement existing health services and reach historically underserved populations. The Leibniz ScienceCampus DigitalPublic Health (LSC DiPH) addresses these issues. The network brings together scientists from the fields of health sciences, statistics, law, communication sciences, anthropology, philosophy, and computer science.

Objectives:

Four objectives were defined:

- Develop a framework: develop common concepts and terminology related to Digital Public Health.

- Needs-based technology: understand and integrate evidence, user needs, interests, and perspectives related to digital technologies for public health

- Evaluation: examining the unclear effectiveness of digital technologies to improve public health (population health impact), including health economics of digital technologies for public health

- Transfer and Participation: Exploring and strengthening community and user engagement and participatory approaches that go beyond one-way messaging
