Health and society

The Department of Health & Society analyses social conditions at the macro, meso and micro levels in terms of their effects on health and illness. We are guided by a fundamental understanding of the social and psychosocial interactions of health and society, which sees health and illness as the result of social or discursive negotiation processes. Against this background, the members of the department are equally concerned with questions of the emergence and dynamics of health risks and social problems and their state, social and biographical treatment and processing, as well as with questions of health communication in its various forms.
