Wiebke Rabe ist Juniorprofessorin für Internationale Beziehungen mit dem Schwerpunkt Globale Ressourcenpolitik am Institut für Interkulturelle und Internationale Studien (InIIS) an der Universität Bremen.

Am InIIS forscht und lehrt sie zu Fragen der Verteilung natürlicher Ressourcen und globalen Abhängigkeiten sowie digitalen Daten als Ressource in der internationalen Politik. Ein besonderes Augenmerk liegt hierbei auf der Rolle Chinas sowie innerchinesischen Interessenkonstellationen. Ihre Forschung erschien in international begutachteten Fachzeitschriften, wie Energy Policy, the Review of International Political Economy, The China Quarterly, the Journal of Contemporary Asia, International Politics und the Journal of Current Chinese Affairs.

Vor ihrer Tätigkeit am InIIS war Wiebke Rabe Juniorprofessorin am Department of China Studies an der Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University in Suzhou und Wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin an der Freien Universität Berlin und der Hertie School. Sie promovierte an der Hertie School und ist Autorin des Buches „China’s Provinces Go Global: Internationalization under Guided Autonomy“ (2023, Routledge). Wiebke Rabe verwendet eine Vielfalt methodischer Ansätze, die zahlreiche Formen der Datenerhebung einschließen, wie Feldforschung, Expert*inneninterviews, Umfragen und Dokumentenanalysen.
