Goals and tasks
The ZMML is the central e-learning institution of the University of Bremen and aims at the demand-oriented and systematic identification, introduction, integration and further development of e-learning offers as well as the bundling of all e-learning activities and innovations at the University of Bremen.
E-learning at the University of Bremen serves to support the areas of teaching, learning, supervision, assessment as well as self-study and aims overall to improve quality, flexibility and efficiency. At the same time, it serves to support central strategic goals of the University of Bremen. These include in particular:
- Research-based studying, participation and diversity (Mission Statement)
- Family friendliness and
- internationalisation
Goals
The goals are
- Improving the quality of teaching - more active, more cooperative, more collaborative, more individual, more problem-oriented, more efficient
- Making studies more flexible - in terms of space, time, individual priorities
- Shortening of study times and the
- Development of academic media competence among teachers and students as an indispensable part of the qualification profile.
As digitisation progresses, a digital education space is being established that takes into account all areas of teaching and study, meets the requirements of a modern university in terms of attractiveness both internally and externally, and positions the University of Bremen for future challenges in the field of education.
Digitalisation permeates and promotes all areas of a university, in addition to teaching and studying (e-learning), also research (e-science) and administration (e-administration). The aim is to coordinate the interdepartmental service and development processes (e.g. learning platform, examination platform, examination management, course planning) and offer them in an integrated manner.
Tasks
- Development, implementation, provision and support of quality-assured services in the comptenece areas as well as operation and support of the necessary technical infrastructure
- Qualification, counselling and support of university staff in all questions of e-learning, especially in the area of media didactics
- Advising the university and its committees on scientific and technological developments in the field of e-learning
- Promoting communication and cooperation within and outside the university in the area of digitally supported teaching
- Initiation and implementation of research and development projects in the area of digital media and ICT technologies in teaching and learning
- Active participation in the further development and implementation of a university-wide e-learning strategy
