File delivery via scheduled file folders

Brief description

You create two time-controlled file folders in the file area of your lecture, both only visible for the defined period and only for the your participants: One for the delivery of the assignment and accompanied materials (read-only access) and a second as a submission folder (write-only access, only own files are visible).

These settings can be made when creating a folder in the file area or already existing folders can be converted afterwards.

Procedure

1. Time controlled task folder (material folder for download)

  • Create a new folder in the desired course by clicking on New folder. Enter an appropriate name and, if necessary, a description for your folder.
  • Then select the entry Time-controlled file folders at Select folder type. Clicking on this selection opens a window below, in which you can set an exact start and end time for the visibility of the folder. In addition, you can set here that the participants of your course can only download these files. In this case, select r - Read.
  • Confirm your entry by clicking on Create. The folder and its contents will then only be visible to the participants of the course within the set time. For lecturers and tutors this folder is always visible.

2. Timed submission folder (homework folder)

  • Create a new folder in the desired course by clicking on New folder. Enter an appropriate name and, if necessary, a description for your folder.
  • Then select the entry Time-controlled file folder at Select folder type. Clicking on this selection opens a window below where you can set an exact start and end time for the folder's visibility. Please consider a time buffer for uploading the submissions.
  • In addition, set here that the participants of your event can only upload these files, but cannot view, modify or download any other files. For this case, select w - Write.
  • Confirm your entry by clicking on Create. The folder and its contents will then only be visible to the participants of the course within the set time. For lecturers and tutors this folder is always visible.

If you want to change e.g. the folder name or the time period later, click on the 3-dot symbol under Actions on the right. Now you see different actions. Click on Edit folder and make the appropriate changes.

 Do not forget to save!

3. View and download student submissions

You will now see student submissions in the submissions folder. You can view and download the files submitted by students. The files, the associated students, and the time of submission will be displayed. You can open/download the individual files or download all the submissions collectively in a zip file. Place a check mark to the left of the folder names and select Download for the collected download. This contains the individual submitted files and also a CSV file that lists the files with assignment to the users who uploaded the files and the time of submission.
