Björn Jindra promovierte in Wissenschafts- und Technologiepolitik an der University of Sussex und habilitierte an der Universität Bremen im Bereich der Volkswirtschaftslehre. Seine Forschung konzentriert sich auf die Überschneidung von internationalen Wirtschafts-, Innovations- und Entwicklungsstudien. Vorherige Arbeiten beschäftigten sich mit der Rolle von multinationalen Unternehmen für die technologische Entwicklung von Schwellenländern. In seiner aktuellen Arbeit setzt sich Professor Jindra mit der Internationalisierung der F&E-Abteilungen von multinationalen Unternehmen auseinander, sowie dem globalen Wettbewerb um die Führungsrolle im Bereich der künstlichen Intelligenz. Er ist Gastwissenschaftler am John H. Dunning Center für Internationale Wirtschaft an der Universität Reading (Großbritannien) und wissenschaftlicher Ehrenmitarbeiter am Center für Wissenschaft, Technologie und Innovationsindikatoren (Südafrika).
