Dynamics: Topology and Numbers

A conference on "Dynamic Systems, Topology and Number Theory" was held at the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics from July 2 - 6, 2018.

A conference on "Dynamic Systems, Topology and Number Theory" was held at the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics from July 2 - 6, 2018. It was organized by Anke Pohl (University of Bremen), Martin Möller (Goethe-University Frankfurt), Pieter Moree (MPIM Bonn) and Tom Ward (University of Leeds).

The main topics of this conference were topological dynamics and dynamics in homogeneous spaces. 18 speakers presented their latest research results in these areas.  Among the speakers were

Cornelissen, Gunther (Universiteit Utrecht)
DeMarco, Laura (Northwestern University)
Deninger, Christopher (Universität Münster)
Einsiedler, Manfred (ETH Zürich)
Eskin, Alex (University of Chicago)
Feng, De-Jun (The Chinese University of Hong Kong)
Ghosh, Anish (Tata Institute of Fundamental Research)
Gorodnik, Alexander (University of Bristol)
Juschenko, Kate (Northwestern University)
Kontorovich, Alex (Rutgers University)
Marmi, Stefano (Scuola Normale Superiore)
McMullen, Curtis (Harvard University)
Misiurewicz, Michal (Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis)

Mukamel, Ronen (Rice University)
Mohammadi, Amir (The University of California, San Diego)
Nekrashevych, Volodymyr (Texas A&M University)
Schleicher, Dierk (Jacobs University Bremen)
Snoha, Ľubomír (Matej Bel University).

This conference belongs to the series of "Dynamics & Numbers" events at the MPI. Since Sergii Kolyada, the long-time co-organizer of this series, had died unexpectedly a few months earlier, an event in his memory took place on the first day.

About 80 researchers from all over the world took part in the conference. It was funded by the MPI.
