Do you need some help with your English writing?

The Writer’s Help Desk is here for you! We offer individual writing consultations to students and staff members, which take place either at the university or online via Zoom.  It's easiest if you register by email in advance:

You will get professional academic writing advice for 15 to 30 minutes – completely free of charge. After we receive your email inquiry, we will get back to you with a specific time slot and (if necessary) the link for our online meeting.

You can come see us at the Writer's Help Desk several times per semester, but not more than once a week.

What do we do at the Writer’s Help Desk?

  • We can offer you writing advice and give you feedback on your text, including your linguistic strengths and weaknesses.
  • We can provide you with tips and strategies on how to translate your own texts.
  • We can help you translate your Bachelor or Master thesis title.
  • We can review presentation slides with you.
  • We can recommend materials and resources on academic writing in English.

Please note:

  • The Writer’s Help Desk is not a proofreading service for lengthy texts.
    • If you need such a service, you can try booking some language coaching hours that focus on proofreading your writing interactively with a writing coach.
  • The Writer’s Help Desk is not designed to replace a language course.
  • The Writer’s Help Desk cannot translate whole texts for you.
