Controlling Branch Switching in Numerical Continuation with PDE2PATH

(Prof. Dr. Jens Rademacher)

The goal of this project is to further develop and implement algorithms that avoid unwanted branch changes and allow selection in the case of multiple branching for numerical continuation. The basis is the so-called "deflated continuation", which is treated in this article. In addition, the MATLAB software package PDE2PATH will serve as a basis.

Basic knowledge in the areas of analysis, linear algebra and numerics is recommended. The duration of the work within the working group should be at least four weeks. In addition, a written paper and a final presentation in the seminar are expected. For further information and requirements, please refer to the module and event catalog of the Department of Mathematics.

A written presentation of this project can be found here.
