Weltretter 2.0: New Website is online!

Engineers move with the times! And true to form, as of now you can go to www.weltretter.uni-bremen.de and find a modern presentation of everything you need to know about studying Engineering in Faculty 4: Production Engineering – Mechanical Engineering & Process Engineering at the University of Bremen. Closely linked in with the social media platforms Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter the website serves as an anchor for the growing Bremen community of well-intentioned saviors of the world  (German: Weltretter): Young men and women with a passion for technology and with sustainable proposals for a better future.

The Weltretterwebsite belongs to the campaign entitled “Werde Weltretter” [Be a world savior] which kicked off in 2008 and since then, together with the annual event “Weltretter-Tag” provides potential students with insights into studies in Faculty 4 and the working lives of engineers. “After five years it was high time for a re-launch”, says the initiator, Prof.Ekkard Brinskmeier. The new Weltretter website goes online exactly four months before this year‘s Weltretter-Tag, scheduled for 14th June 2013, and  just in time to coincide with publication of the MINT magazine “H2B”, which is issued by the Bremen Economic Development Council, Wirtschaftsförderung Bremen, in the ZEIT newspaper and in „ZEIT CAMPUS“.

Weltretter-Tag, which will be held on the campus of the Excellence University of Bremen, extends a cordial invitation to all high-school students who would like to know more about careers in engineering and Weltretter studies. Included in the program are the institutes associated with Faculty 4, from “A” for the “Arbeitswissenschaftliches Institut Bremen” (aib) through “D” for “Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt” up to “Z” for “Zentrum für angewandte Raumfahrttechnologie und Mikrogravitation”. The thematic fields covered by Weltretter-Tag thus range from eco-efficient manufacturing, through the light-weight construction of electrical vehicles, up to renewable energies.

You can find more information on the program and a registration form under www.weltretter.uni-bremen.de or on www.facebook.com/werdeweltretter.
