University & Society

As the only state university in the federal state, the University of Bremen is particularly connected to the development of the state. It takes up impulses from society, stimulates dialogue on current topics and enriches the city culturally. Numerous events and projects promote the exchange between science and the population as well as schools, art and business.

University as economic factor

The University of Bremen is an economic factor that has a particular impact on the city and state of Bremen as well as the north-west metropolitan region. People are trained here who transfer knowledge and innovation to companies and other organisations. With a budget of around 300 million euros, around 3,000 employees and 20,000 students, the university makes a significant contribution to regional gross value added.

"Opening up worlds - sharing knowledge": this is the motto under which the university invites interested members of the public to OPEN CAMPUS every two years. The open-air event in the Campus Park offers insights into research and teaching.

From the files to the stage

"From the files to the stage" - under this motto, students of history and actors from the bremer shakespeare company (bsc) develop staged readings from original historical documents.
