Good Teaching and Learning

University of Research-Based Learning

The teaching profile of the University of Bremen is consistently oriented towards research-based learning. Research-based learning as a didactic principle includes activating teaching methods, but also proximity to current research and research processes and their reflection.

In recent years, the University of Bremen has integrated research-based learning concepts into numerous study programs in all departments, thus relating research and teaching even more closely.

The mission statement for teaching and studies, which was amended by the Academic Senate in 2021, formulates our claim to be a "university of research-based learning": research-based learning offers all students the opportunity to develop into responsible and critically thinking personalities with strong professional competence through reflective discourse, taking into account increasing digitalization and datafication.
