Welcoming the international exchange students
Welcoming the international exchange students
The University of Bremen welcomed around 80 international exchange students on Monday, 11 March. A welcome breakfast gave them the opportunity to get to know each other and gain an initial insight into life at the University of Bremen. In addition to Vice President Dr Mandy Boehnke, the International Office, the Language Centre and the Erasmus Initiative were also represented. After breakfast, the students were given a tour on campus.

Our Profile
Internationality is a key strategic feature of the University of Bremen’s profile. We see internationalization as a process that extends into all areas of the university. Being an international university, we welcome individuals from more than 100 nations who live, study, and work on our campus. They enrich our teaching and research and are a defining feature of our success.
Studying at the University of Bremen allows for a wide range of international experiences. Our teaching and research activities are internationally oriented and we are part of many networks and partnerships around the world. The University of Bremen promotes and supports all its members in benefiting from its international orientation, but also in contributing towards it.
In awareness of its responsibility to the wider community, the University of Bremen works with its partners on finding solutions to pressing global challenges and thus contributes to sustainable development worldwide.

Internationalization Strategy
The internationalization strategy sets the university’s objectives in the frame of internationalization for the next decade. It defines thematic and regional priorities and promotes the continuous strategic development of our global cooperation.
A new internationalization strategy is currently being worked on and subject to a university-wide discussion process. The new strategy will further strengthen our profile and take into account the development of internationalization at all levels of the university over recent years. It links into the vision and the objectives of the university’s overall strategy.
The previous internationalization strategy was published in 2011:
Multilingualism
The University of Bremen is committed to multilingualism: In 2017, it was one of the first universities in Germany to publish a language policy paper which makes recommendations for the use of language in science and everyday university life. Our students acquire the language skills they need for careers on the German as well as the international job market. The university encourages and actively supports all its members to learn new languages, to make use of their native language in everyday working life, and to help breathe life into multilingualism on campus.
moreStrategic Partnerships
