Apprenticeship Positions 2012 at the University of Bremen

The University of Bremen is not only a place of academic training for students and young researchers. We also take on young people to train in attractive apprenticeships with good prospects for future careers. For the coming year 2012, the University is offering apprenticeship positions in twelve different areas. The spectrum ranges from crafts and industrial trades, through training in laboratories and IT, up to service-sector activities. For example, the University offers an apprenticeship in its own joinery workshop and also trains biology lab assistants. Young people can learn the trade of an IT specialist, or begin their occupational career as an event manager. For information on the various career field opportunities, contact details, as well as tips and ideas, go to www.ausbildung.uni-bremen.de. The closing date for applications is 4th November 2011, and the jobs begin on 1st September 2012.

Applicants must have at least passed through junior high school (Hauptschule) with a good final result. Some careers may call for a higher secondary education, since the vocational school may have higher theoretical requirements. The University of Bremen and the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen – represented here by the Aus- und Fortbildungszentrum (AFZ) – are jointly responsible for the vocational training provided. The AFZ concludes the training contracts with the apprentices and acts as employer. The practical training itself, i.e. the responsibility for teaching the know-how and skills requisite in the respective vocational training programs lies with the University.
