where astronautics research and industry form a renown high-tech cluster.

Space technologies and space applications in Bremen form a unique, internationally renown cluster of technology, research and development. This creates excellent new job opportunities for natural scientists and engineers. The international master’s program in Space Sciences and Technologies provides expert knowledge in the three main data handling technologies:

•   Sensing
•   Processing
•   Communication

Lectures, exercises as well as the interdisciplinary laboratory practical with experiments from the three subject areas offer the possibility to deepen the learned theories and methods with practical examples and prepare the students for their daily work in the best possible way. Students acquire excellent job opportunities in space agencies, space industry and research institutes.

Course contents

In addition to the three main technologies, students make their choice between two specialization areas:

  • Physics for Space Observation

  • Information Technologies for Space

On top of theoretical knowledge in the fields of remote sensing, earth observation, retrieval theory, electronics and communication, the course provides practical experience in the context of laboratory internships. Courses on digital image processing as well as architecture and design of digital systems teach advanced knowledge and methods in the field of processing. Additionally, the students work on a research project with a final master's thesis and a final colloquium in the 4th semester.
