Professor Anna Förster studied computer science in her home town of Sofia, Bulgaria. “Nothing unusual for women at that time,” says the 38-year-old. Later she was to experience things differently in Berlin and at the University of Bremen. “In the meantime, however, women have recognized the attractiveness of the subject,” says the researcher, who took up a professorship at the University of Bremen in 2015. She researches and plans sustainable communication networks in the Faculty of Physics/Electrical Engineering. These include smart cities, power grids and homes.
