Good teaching and learning

Das Lehrprofil der Universität Bremen ist konsequent auf Forschendes Lernen hin ausgerichtet. Forschendes Lernen als didaktisches Prinzip umfasst aktivierende Lehrmethoden, aber auch Nähe zur aktuellen Forschung und zu Forschungsprozessen und deren Reflexion.

In den letzten Jahren hat die Universität Bremen in zahlreichen Studiengängen aller Fachbereiche Konzepte des Forschenden Lernens integriert und damit Forschung und Lehre noch enger aufeinander bezogen.

Das 2021 vom Akademischen Senat ergänzte Leitbild für Lehre und Studium formuliert unseren Anspruch als „Universität des Forschenden Lernens“: Forschendes Lernen bietet allen Studierenden die Möglichkeit, sich im reflexiven Diskurs zu verantwortungsvollen und kritisch denkenden Persönlichkeiten mit starker fachlicher Kompetenz zu entwickeln unter Berücksichtigung der zunehmenden Digitalisierung und Datafizierung.

Assuring Quality

The University of Bremen is system accredited. Our quality management is supportive and service-oriented and serves to secure and further develop a high quality of teaching and learning. Designing Study Courses

The range of courses offered by the University of Bremen is constantly evolving. Existing programs change, new ones are added, and others are closed. All these processes are complex and challenging. The department for university development and capacity planning as well as teaching and studies unit address fundamental questions of course design. University Teaching

Good teaching is constantly evolving. The University of Bremen supports this with a comprehensive range of measures to promote university teaching. Target group-specific or topic-oriented methods offer diverse and interesting options for developing expertise. It is also possible to acquire a certificate in university education. In addition, there are offers of individual coaching or specialist workshops.

Teaching in Dialogue

Regular exchange and dialog between all University members involved in teaching are an important basis for maintaining excellent and innovative teaching. Excellent teaching concepts, new requirements due to the increase in digitalization, current developments in teaching research as well as dealing with diversity are topics that occupy the whole University. Opportunities of exchanging views on these topics are presented by Resonanz (in German only), the magazine for teaching and learning, on Teaching Day or in the context of the Standing Conference for Innovation in Teaching.

International Teaching

Teaching at the University of Bremen is international: promoting foreign mobility, multilingualism and diversity competence are fundamental cross-sectional dimensions of our teaching in all subjects. Our internationally attractive and innovative study and doctoral programmes enable students to gain international and intercultural experience. Lecturers from Bremen teach abroad, while guests from all over the world enrich our teaching - we offer numerous support options.
