Specialist for media and information services

Specialists for media and information services (libraries) are involved with the development and maintenance of library collections. The user services work involves advising customers and providing them with media or information.

Duties include:

  • Procuring and purchasing media, data, and information

  • Recording and indexing print and electronic books, newspapers, and other media in catalogs and databases

  • Providing advice, information, and guidance to customers

  • Undertaking research in databases, and information and communications systems

  • Implementing and monitoring the lending of materials

  • Processing technical media

The vocational training takes three years.

Requirements:

  • Enjoy working with people

  • Meticulous and systematic way of working

  • Good school grades in mathematics, German, and English

  • Skills in electronic data processing

  • Interest in working with books, newspapers, and other media

  • Orderly way of working

Specialist for media and information services (medical documentation)

Specialists for media and information services (medical documentation) record, manage, and maintain medical data assets. They classify, check, maintain, and store information.

Duties include:

  • Procuring, managing, and preparing medical media, data, and information

  • Creating and maintaining databases

  • Entering and maintaining patient data, examination reports, and physicians' findings

  • Statistical analysis, preparation, and presentation of medical data

  • Working with coding systems

The vocational training takes three years and is undertaken in part in cooperation with hospitals (among other facilities) in the context of a collaborative training venture.

Requirements:

  • Orderly way of working

  • Meticulous and systematic way of working

  • Good school grades in mathematics, German, and English

  • Skills in electronic data processing

  • Interest in working with data and figures

Event manager

Event manager

The University of Bremen is in the public spotlight on many occasions with the outside and in-house events that are held there.

The organization of major events, such as the OPEN CAMPUS every two years, as well as award and tribute ceremonies, receptions, conferences, and summer festivals is the responsibility of Administrative Unit 01 – the President’s Office in cooperation with various partners in and around Bremen.

Duties include:

  • Developing concepts for various events

  • Planning, organizing, executing, and post-processing of events

  • Business tasks such as preparing cost calculations

  • Various internships to gain more in-depth knowledge of important training content (e. g., in event technology)

The vocational training takes three years with the option of a shorter training period.

Requirements:

  • Qualification for entrance to a university or a university of applied sciences

  • Creativity

  • Organizational talent

  • Ability to work in a team

  • Communication skills
