Maria Elisabeth Müller, Director of the State and University Library is happy about the chance to finally determine the acceptance of Sunday openings at the library. She is looking forward to receiving feedback from visitors: “We hope that as many students as possible from the higher education institutions in Bremen make use of this offer”.
10 Weekends in the Year
In 2019 and 2020, the scheme will be put into place during the busiest times in the winter and summer. This will amount to ten weekends in each year. The first of the four phases will begin on January 12, 2019. The central library, located on the university campus, will close at 8 p.m. instead of 6 p.m. On Sundays, the library will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The library will exclusively function as a study environment during the extended opening hours. The loaning and returning of books and support from the library staff will not be available.
A final report, which will include recommendations for the future opening hours of the library alongside a final evaluation, will be published at the end of the two-year project.
