Yuru Li has been a PhD candidate since December 2020 in the lab “Digital Communication and Information Diversity”. She studied Journalism and Communication at the Southwest University of Political Science and Law and continued her study at the Communication University of China with a focus on Computational Communication. Her master thesis is “Emotions in Social Media: Network Identity, Expression and Communication”. She was a student research assistant in the lab of “Data Mining and Social Computing”, during this period, she published several papers and participated projects in the fields of democracy research, middle-class discourse on social media, Chinese environmental contentions, political news production, etc.
