Exciting Events and first Impressions of Bremen's Communication- and Media Sector for Students

Media Practice Week at the University of Bremen from 4 to 8 April 2022

Inform-Inspire-Initiate: This is the motto of this year's Media Practice Week. From 4 to 8 April 2022, students from the media and communication degree programmes at the University of Bremen will be offering a diverse programme. From "A day in the life of...", a Job Speed Dating and a Fair & Dine at the University of Bremen to field reports and a panel discussion on the future of journalism at Klub Dialog, there is something for everyone! Interested parties can register now at the following link - due to corona, the number of places is limited.

The Media Practice Week is an event organised by Bachelor's and Master's students of Communication and Media Studies, Digital Media and Society as well as Media Culture and Globalisation at the University of Bremen. The aim is to create a diverse programme that provides insights of different areas of the communications and media sector in Bremen, triggers ideas and initiative among interested parties and offers the opportunity to make initial contacts.

This year, 34 students are organising the programme from 4 to 8 April 2022 as part of the seminar Event Management - Media Practice Week 2022.

It starts on Monday, 4 April 2022, at 2 p.m. in the theatre hall of the University of Bremen: In "A day in the life of...", several media companies will share insights into their everyday work on the big screen. Afterwards, the company representatives will be available to answer questions from the audience on the big stage. Those who are interested can look forward to artundweise, the Digital Garage of Radio Bremen and Radio Energy.

At the "Job Speed Dating" on Tuesday, 5 April 2022, media companies from Bremen and the surrounding area will be answering students' questions from 2 to 4 p.m. in the MZH of the University of Bremen. This is also an opportunity to make initial contacts. Among others, vomhörensehen, Raumperle, Deichblick, Brandfisher and Maisberger will be there.

Wednesday, 6 April 2022, starts at 10 a.m. with exciting "experience reports" in the Klub Dialog. Whether it's a stay abroad, an internship or a direct career start: this event shows different paths after graduation. Nadine Metzler, Marlena Witte and Dennis Wellbrock will report on their careers and share their experiences with those present.

The Media Practice has also put together an appealing event for international students: On Wednesday, 6 April 2022, the English-language event "Fair and Dine" will take place at 4 pm. The aim is to enable prospective students to get in touch with local companies so that they can find out about different areas of the industry. The event not only offers a presentation of the companies in English, but also invites students to a three-course meal where they can talk more in-depth with company representatives. Among others, Joke Events, artundweise, construktiv, 42 Digital and the City Initiative Bremen as well as the Career Center of the University of Bremen will be present.

With the headline "The medium is the message - What does a changing media environment mean for journalism in the future?", four speakers and experts will address the challenges of journalism in the context of technological development and possible concepts for the future on Thursday, 7 April 2022. For this panel discussion, Klub Dialog will open its doors to you at 4 pm.

The Media Practice Week will be rounded off by the LinkedIn Workshop on Friday. At 10 a.m., lecturer Friederike Gonzales will introduce interested parties to LinkedIn via Zoom. The focus will be on networking and self-marketing on the popular platform.

This year, different teams of students will take care of different aspects of event management, such as marketing/PR, logistics or the content of the week to be organised. Among them are

Thees Adickes, Jana Ahrens, Angel Augustino, Anna Bestek, Isabelle Blum, Lena Buns, Clara Cardoso, Hülya Cevik, Fotini Denisova, Vitor Fazio, Philipp Gravenhorst, Vivien Henniges, Xing Huang, Kendra Kessenich, Anika Lange, Cho Lee Ko, Karin León, Johanna Lodemann, Maria Markow, Xavier Saldes Martí, Mara Meyer, Nele Müller, Oladoyin Olatunbosun, María Fernanda Sanabria, Ani Shala, Gloriya Stefanova, Michelle Thurn, Lu Wang, Christina Werner, Leonie Wulf, Lilian Zelle.
