New publication by ZeMKI member Prof. Dr. Michael Nagel

With the title: On the Transcultural Nature of Jewish Periodicals

Volume 24 of the series "The Jewish Press - Communication History in Europe", edited by Susanne Marten-Finnis and ZeMKI member Prof. Dr. Michael Nagel

The contributions collected in the work illuminate the diversity and contemporary significance of the historical Jewish press from the Enlightenment to National Socialism and present approaches to its research. They examine the conditions of publication and reception as well as the public spheres that transcended national and linguistic boundaries. This volume contains current studies on the historical German-Jewish press. Since the Enlightenment, the periodicals in question have helped shape the developments of their time and are of unique documentary value today. With different questions and methods, the contributions deal with the period from the early German-Jewish calendars of the 17th and 18th centuries to Jewish journalism under the Nazi regime.
