Through this seminar, especially Master students (…) This seminar provides a platform for Master students, PhD candidates, and Post-docs to present their academic work. Through this seminar, especially Master students and early PhDs gain a pathway to attend and contribute to state-of-the-art academic discourse. This helps them preparing their own (future) doctoral studies. Participants will yield valuable feedback by experienced faculty. The seminar also provides the opportunity to get in touch with academic guest speakers, enabling potential future collaborations.
More specifically, the seminar’s aims are:
• Giving advanced Master and PhD students the opportunity to present, test, and discuss early stage ideas and receive valuable feedback
• We provide a platform for scientific exchange with all parties profiting from the discourse.
• Opening up new opportunities for collaboration.
• Offering a stage for conference presentation rehearsals.
• On request, presenters will receive a certificate (“Schein”).
Each presenter has 30 minutes of time to present their ideas in English. Afterwards, a short report on how the research approach changed after the feedback (3 pages) should be submitted.

Rough schedule:
April 17: Information event to present the practice-oriented teaching format.
May 24: First application deadline for an improved chance of getting your desired project.
June 1: Publication of remaining places
June 28: Deadline for applying for remaining places – project assignment: first-come, first-served basis.
July 6: Publication of project assignments (team building)
Until July 24: First meeting of team members and getting to know each other and onboarding by project partners - Development of the kick-off presentation
July 27 - July 30: Preparatory workshops (3 mandatory plus additional optional workshops)
July 31 (noon): Submission of the kick-off presentation
August 3: Joint kick-off event for all teams and companies. Presentation of introductory presentations – everyone gets to know each other!
August 3–August 20: Individual project work in teams (full-time = at least 30 hours/week) / in between, mandatory and voluntary coaching sessions with the teaching team as well as 2–3 social after-work events. Goal: Submission of the final presentation (coordinated with the company) / final or detailed presentation in advance at the company
August 21: Final event with final presentations in front of all teams and companies as well as interested audience. Followed by a social gathering.

This helps them preparing their own (future) doctoral studies. Participants will yield valuable feedback by experienced faculty. A strong background in the subjects presented is not generally assumed – we deliberately seek to have an open and creative atmosphere. Moreover, the seminar is expected to stimulate collaborations with promising Master and PhD students in the department’s research projects.
More specifically, the seminar’s aims are:
• Giving advanced Master and PhD students the opportunity to present, test, and discuss early stage ideas and receive valuable feedback, which is inevitable to enable profound, focused, and original research.
• We would like to establish a vivid and exciting platform for scientific exchange that would profit everyone involved.
• Making people aware of what kind of research is done at the department. This may open up new opportunities for collaboration.
• Offering a stage for conference presentation rehearsals.
• On request, presenters will receive a certificate (“Schein”).
Each presenter has 30 minutes of time to give her views. English is the preferred language. To enable in depth discussion of contributions, we ask participants to submit a paper (not more than 15 pages) or the presentation slides prior to the seminar. The papers, slides, materials, and the program will be available for download via Stud.IP.
