After studying and completing his doctorate at Universität Hamburg, Becker habilitated at Bucerius Law School. In 2017, he was appointed professor at Leibniz University Hannover before taking over the Chair of Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure Law, and Legal Philosophy at the European University Viadrina in 2019.

At the University of Bremen, Christian Becker intends to contribute to maintaining excellent standards in legal education through his teaching, while also fostering critical thinking among students. His research will focus, among other things, on the widespread diagnosis of a “division” in democratic societies from a legal-philosophical perspective.
