For inclusion in a master's degree is the completion of studies at the Bachelor's level requirement.
The subject-specific entry requirements are set out in the current Aufnahme-/Zulassungsordnung (admission regulations).
It also includes the different deadlines for the provision of evidence.

Courses in the Master of Computer Science are assigned to one of the following five areas:

• Theoretical Computer Science
• Practical Computer Science
• Applied Computer Science
• Projects
• General Studies

Module

The computer science program in the master's program is designed for a standard period of study of four semesters (full-time study) and ends with the degree "Master of Science" (M.Sc.). - Those who do not pursue their studies full-time (e.g. for family or health reasons or due to parallel employment) must plan for a correspondingly longer study period.

The study program is modular. There are only a few compulsory modules. For the other modules, students can choose between different courses. Each course is assigned a point value (credit points, CP), which is a measure of the relative average amount of work that must be done for the individual courses.

The program is completed with the master's thesis. Students thus demonstrate that they have acquired the thorough specialist knowledge required for professional practice, have an overview of the interrelationships of their subject, and possess the ability to apply scientific methods and findings in computer science.

A total of 120 credit points (CP) must be achieved for the successful completion of the Master's program in Computer Science.

In the Master's program in Computer Science, in addition to the possibility of setting individual emphases, there is also the option of aligning the program with a content profile:

Fields of employment for computer scientists can be diverse: They find jobs in industry and commerce as well as in the public sector. They are primarily employed in the field of software development, but also in the production of computer hardware as well as in research and teaching. In order to take this diversity into account, the program is designed to enable students to adapt independently to the rapidly changing demands of professional practice.

The program is taught on a scientific basis. It thrives on the tension between general, fundamental knowledge and special, instrumental skills. Specialized knowledge, methods, and skills that are professionally qualifying in the field of computer science are taught at a scientific, research-oriented level.

The department of computer science covers research and teaching topics from a variety of areas such as robotics, computer graphics, virtual reality, cognitive systems, data bases, logistics, neuro-informatics, efficient algorithms, information management, artificial intelligence, computer networks, cyber-physical systems, distributed systems and software engineering.

There are currently 16 full-time professorships in computer science, which together with a large number of scientific employees offer courses in computer science. Additional courses are offered by lecturers, retired university professors, cooperation and honorary professors, lecturers from other subjects and, if necessary, lecturers.

Computer Science in Bremen has a wide range of contacts with other computer science research institutions in Germany and worldwide. Computer science working groups are involved in the Bremen location of the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI), among others. In the field of transfer, there are intensive contacts to business, industry and public administration - among others through the Technology Center for Informatics (TZI) and the Institute for Information Management Bremen (ifib).
