The M.Sc. Sustainable Process Engineering has a standard duration of four semesters and comprises 120 credit points (CP). The language of instruction is English. The programme can be started in both the winter and summer semester.
Compared to a Bachelor's programme, the Master's programme places much greater emphasis on acquiring and developing methodological knowledge and skills that play an essential role in the professional qualification of future graduates. Therefore, the course content is divided equally between advanced fundamentals and specialised modules in process engineering, supplemented by a practical module, an elective area that also offers opportunities to acquire interdisciplinary and non-subject specific skills, and the Master's thesis.
Module areas:
1st - 2nd semester: Foundations (36 CP),
1st - 3rd semester: Advanced Modules Process Engineering (24 CP),
1st - 2rd semester: Elective Modules Engineering (12 CP),
3rd semester: Practical Module (12 CP), Free Elective Module (6 CP),
4th semester: Master's Thesis (30 CP).
To ensure the best possible study experience, the first two semesters do not build on each other. Instead, they can be studied in any order without any prerequisites. In the third semester, students work on a research project, for which topics are assigned in both the winter and summer semesters. Alternatively, an industrial internship (12 CP) can be completed.
In the elective area, engineering modules worth 12 CP can be taken according to the student's own interests, and 6 CP can be chosen freely.
The fourth semester is reserved for the Master's thesis, which is worth 30 CP. To register for the Master's thesis, students must have completed the project or industrial internship and have earned at least 60 CP.
