Professor Rainer Malaka Receives Prestigious 2025 IFIP Fellow Award

Rainer Malaka, Professor of Digital Media and Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics / Computer Science, has been honored with the 2025 IFIP Fellow Award from the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP).

With this highly prestigious technical award, the IFIP honors individuals who have made outstanding academic achievements and shown exceptional commitment to the international computer science community. The title of IFIP Fellow is awarded by the IFIP General Assembly and is one of the most esteemed honors in the field of information and communication technologies (ICT) worldwide.

Rainer Malaka is director of the Center for Computing Technologies (TZI) and conducts research on topics such as interaction design, artificial intelligence, and entertainment computing. His work combines academic excellence with social responsibility – a concern that is also a focus of the IFIP.

The International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP) is the global umbrella organization for computer science and IT professional associations. Its goal is to support the responsible development and application of information and communication technologies worldwide. To this end, it strengthens international cooperation in research and teaching, advocates for digital equal opportunities, and supports the professionalization of IT professions worldwide.
