“The prize means a lot to me”, says a delighted Frerichs. “It is a great honor to be voted Athlete of the Year in my hometown, as I am very proud to still be able to carry out my passion in Bremen. Frerichs has already achieved a lot in the world of sports. She played her first game for the national youth team in 2018. Since then, she has become a fixture in German field hockey. She is now part of the national team, and the chances of participating in the 2024 Olympics are very realistic. The exceptional field hockey player also secured her team’s spot in its division in the indoor national league (Hallenbundesliga) ahead of schedule, at the end of 2022. A great success for the Bremen club.
