The basis for the statement is an application student representatives submitted to the Academic Senate, which states:

“The University of Bremen’s Academic Senate expressly supports student protests against the increase to the semester fee and calls on the Bremen Senate to withdraw the increase to the administration fee and the Studierendenwerk (student services organization) fee, to shoulder the additional financing needed by the Studierendenwerk using funding from the state budget instead, and to advocate at the federal level to ensure that the structuring of BAföG (student government loans) and the Deutschland-Semester-Ticket is socially equitable.”
