Panel Discussion: Sustainability in Space

Experts will discuss sustainability in space at Space Hub Bremen. The University of Bremen invites you to attend the event, which begins at 5:00 p.m.

Life on Earth is no longer conceivable without space travel. Communication satellites bring television, the internet, and radio to even the remotest corners of the globe. Weather satellites help to make increasingly accurate forecasts, and navigation satellites make our everyday lives easier.

But what happens to discarded satellites and debris? In addition to waste prevention, the circular economy in space is also increasingly coming into focus. The goal is to use resources more efficiently, reuse materials, and design systems so that they can be repaired, upgraded, or recycled – even in orbit.

Experts Dr. Charlotte Bewick, OHB; Dr. Marco Scharringhausen, German Aerospace Center; Siegfried Monser, State Coordinator for Space in Bremen; and Götz Anspach von Broecker, Airbus, will partake in the discussion on sustainability in space. The discussion will be moderated by physicist Prof. Dr. Annette Ladstätter-Weißenmayer from the University of Bremen.
