EMPOWERYOU

Research project

Strengthening children and young people in foster and adoptive families and preventing revictimization

The overarching goal of the research network »EMPOWERYOU« is to support children and young people in external care in coping with previous traumatic experiences and to help counteract the risk of re-experiencing bullying and violence. In our project, two online interventions are to be developed in dialogue with the foster and adoptive families and with experts:

for foster and adoptive parents with children and adolescents aged 8 to 13 years (project management University of Bremen),
and for young people between the ages of 14 and 21 with a background in out-of-home care (project management Medical School Berlin).

In a further sub-project that will follow later, these interventions will then be checked for their effect in terms of reducing the risk of (re) victimization.
