He is one of 63 ACM members across the globe who were honored for their significant contributions in the fields of education, technology, and science in 2021. It is expected that the chosen members act as mentors and role models by steering technical career development and contributing to the discipline in an above average manner. Rolf Drechsler has worked in the field of computer science at the University of Bremen since 2001. Since then, he has won several awards and acquired significant research funding - including the German Research Foundation’s (DFG) Reinhart Koselleck Project twice.
