Michal Kucera Appointed President of “Wittheit zu Bremen” Society

Professor Michal Kucera, Vice President for Research and Transfer at the University of Bremen, assumed the role of President of the “Wittheit zu Bremen” society on October 1.

The marine scientist and enthusiastic Bremen-resident-by-choice succeeds Professor Gerold Wefer, who led the society for 24 years. “It is with great gratitude and joy that I take up the position of President of the Wittheit society,” stated Kucera. “In the coming years, I hope to work together with the members to further highlight the importance of science for our society and to make the value of knowledge and education tangible in our everyday lives.”

About the Wittheit zu Bremen Society

The Wittheit zu Bremen society is the academic society of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen and has existed since 1924. Its tasks include organizing academic lectures, publishing scholarly works, and encouraging and supporting scientific research. Members of the Wittheit zu Bremen society include scientific associations and institutes, as well as personally appointed members. The society brings together 95 scientific associations, institutes, the University of Bremen, higher education institutions, and museums, as well as 67 personally appointed members.
