AIIS is a four-term program comprising 120 credit points (CP). Courses will be taught in English and international students are very welcome.

The study program is designed for a standard period of study of four semesters (full-time study) and ends with the degree "Master of Science" (M.Sc.). - Those who do not pursue their studies full-time (e.g. for family or health reasons or due to parallel employment) must plan for a correspondingly longer study period.

The study program is modular. There are only a few modules with compulsory courses. For the other modules, students can choose between different courses. Each course is assigned a point value (credit points, CP), which is a measure of the relative average amount of work that must be done for the individual courses. A total of 120 CP must be achieved for the successful completion of the Master's program.

The program is completed with the master's thesis. Students thus demonstrate that they have acquired the thorough specialist knowledge required for professional practice, have an overview of the interrelationships of their subject, and possess the ability to apply scientific methods and findings in the area of Artificial Intelligence and Intelligent Systems.

AIIS is designed to prepare students for research and development positions in academia or industry in the fast-growing field of AI such as scientist, research engineer, data scientist, or AI consultant. Throughout their studies, AIIS students will have the opportunity to connect with top-notch researchers of the University of Bremen, as well as with leaders of technology companies in and around Bremen, e.g. through internships and Master’s projects.

The master's degree can be followed seamlessly by a PhD thesis at the university of Bremen.

The department of computer science covers research and teaching topics from a variety of areas such as robotics, computer graphics, virtual reality, cognitive systems, data bases, logistics, neuro-informatics, efficient algorithms, information management, artificial intelligence, computer networks, cyber-physical systems, distributed systems and software engineering.

There are currently 20 full-time professorships in computer science, which together with a large number of scientific employees offer courses in computer science. Additional courses are offered by lecturers, retired university professors, cooperation and honorary professors, lecturers from other subjects and, if necessary, lecturers.

Computer Science in Bremen has a wide range of contacts with other computer science research institutions in Germany and worldwide. Computer science working groups are involved in the Bremen location of the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI), among others. In the field of transfer, there are intensive contacts to business, industry and public administration - among others through the Technology Center for Informatics (TZI) and the Institute for Information Management Bremen (ifib).
