Study description

Key concerns within the degree of English-Speaking Cultures/English are the English language and its expansion and diversification in its historical and cultural context. Moreover, representation of local literatures and cultures in the context of colonial histories, critical engagement with the imperial past and the postcolonial present of transatlantic and global historical spaces in the English-speaking world across various media constitute an important part in the programme. The degree program encompasses the following components: Literary studies, language sciences, cultural studies and language practice. Students training to be teachers also attend courses in didactics of foreign language acquisition. Courses are taught in English. The degree programme is complemented by a variety of different courses including task-based language learning, which will further improve student’s language abilities.
