The program initially provides a broad foundation in sport science by understanding movement not only as a form of physical and sporting activity, but also as a comprehensive biological, motor, psychological, technological, pedagogical, social, environmental, and political concept. From the first year onwards, disciplinary, interdisciplinary, and transdisciplinary approaches are taught methodologically in order to develop effective, equitable, and sustainable solutions at both individual and structural levels in an integrative manner.
This provides students with a broad perspective on analyzing and shaping the complex interactions between movement and health in both research and practice, as well as in the context of health promotion and prevention.
The program includes two distinct thematic specializations: “Movement-related Health Promotion” and “Movement, Cognition and Technology.” Both specializations are studied jointly until the fourth semester. In the fourth and fifth semesters, students can choose to deepen one of these specializations within a project module. These project modules are strongly oriented toward future professional fields: in addition to testing self-developed movement activities, students are expected to develop, implement, and evaluate projects and innovative solutions for larger, complex, and open-ended problems in the field of sport, movement, and health.
Students combine the major subject with a complementary subject. Recommended options are Public Health/Health Sciences or Computer Science. Other possible combinations include Education and Educational Sciences, Geography, or Philosophy. Depending on the chosen complementary subject, specific content areas can be explored in greater depth.
