English Language Education (Fremdsprachendidaktik Englisch)

The English Language Education team welcomes you to our website!

For students attending the study programme E-SC with the aim of becoming a teacher, the field of English Language Teaching is a substantial part of their university education. As a discipline, foreign language education deals with both teaching and learning the English language, literatures and cultures, and is based on the relational structure known as the "didactic triangle"—a trivium illustrating the relationship between teacher–learner–content. The close inter-relationship between aims, content and methods in class is key in describing and analysing teaching and learning processes.

The aims of foreign language education are twofold: It provides theoretical and instructional concepts, and, at the same time, empirically researches the reality of teaching. With that said, it represents the crucial link between the subject-specific instruction at the university and its corresponding occupational field of school education.
