Power is a core concept of the social sciences. At the same time, it is highly – perhaps “essentially” – contested. International Relations (IR) is no exception in this regard. What may add to the confusion is that, when reading IR theory, you may be left with two contradictory impressions: on the one hand, it may appear as though a concern with power – its sources, forms, and consequences – is the hallmark of a particular school of thought, to wit realism; on the other hand, you may just as easily be led to conclude that power operates as a shared point of reference of all IR theories, which, however, conceive of it in very different ways. First, students will develop a foundation in the relevant concepts, as well as the theoretical and practical frameworks of water governance. Second, we will examine the various actors involved at the global, national, and subnational levels, their interests, and the institutional frameworks that govern transnational and transboundary waters. Third, by analyzing selected transboundary waters and the ocean, we will explore the causes of ineffectiveness in water governance at different levels. Fourth, students will develop an in-depth understanding of the nexus between water governance, environmental conservation, pollution management, and peace by examining specific cases, including plastics in the ocean and mangroves. Through an individual research project (research paper or oral presentation), students will conduct a qualitative analysis, applying governance frameworks to single-case or cross-case comparisons, and present their (preliminary) findings in class. Students will also participate in interactive, class-based role-playing simulations. By the end of the course, students will be able to draw comparisons across institutional frameworks, apply governance modes to empirical cases, and evaluate policy successes and failures. The seminar supports students in the process of conceiving, designing, and writing the thesis, complementing the input they receive from their supervisors. The thesis seminar consists of three workshops: In the first workshop students present their thesis topic and initial ideas about how to tackle it. The second workshop gives students an opportunity to present and discuss their fully elaborated research design, i.e. precise statements of their (final) research question, its (normative, scientific, or practical) relevance, its place in the literature, their working hypothesis (or hypotheses), the role of theory in their study, the methods they are employing and the reasons for choosing them, the data they are using, etc. Finally, the third workshop is devoted to discussing interim results of students’ investigation on the basis of a “writing sample”, i.e. a draft of the introduction or of a key chapter. The seminar explores and examines the phenomenon of disinformation in international politics, with a focus on current trends and developments. Topics of the seminar include disinformation in elections, crises and conflicts; the political utility of fake news; information warfare; digital technology; deepfakes; strategic motivations of various (non-)state actors; the impact of disinformation on democratic processes; regulatory efforts; and ways of identifying fact-based knowledge and of verifying information. The seminar takes an interdisciplinary perspective for a fuller understanding of how disinformation functions and how democratic societies may guard against it.

Learning goals: The seminar content is taught with a participatory, case-study approach. Students will be able to understand key concepts; deconstruct and analyse disinformation campaigns regarding their source, motivations, target audiences and objectives; critically assess cases in light of the tension between free speech and threat mitigation; and strengthen their capacities of identifying reliable information. Students will also strengthen their analytical, writing and presentation skills. Gained knowledge serves both further academic studies of the topic and the application to other professional areas.

Regular participation in the seminar is an important basis to achieve the seminar's learning goals. Preparatory reading is recommended.

The goal of the seminar is for students to (a) understand the main features of the EU’s economic governance, (b) become familiar with main theoretical approaches used to study the EU’s political economy, and © learn how to formulate and critically assess answers to political economy questions about the EU’s economic governance. The weekly two-hour seminar will be held in English and consists, broadly speaking, of two main parts. The first part will cover key background elements of the EU’s political economy and an overview of theoretical approaches used to study it. This course provides an understanding of how transnational and transboundary waters are governed. First, students will develop a foundation in the relevant concepts, as well as the theoretical and practical frameworks of water governance. Second, we will examine the various actors involved at the global, national, and subnational levels, their interests, and the institutional frameworks that govern transnational and transboundary waters. Third, by analyzing selected transboundary waters and the ocean, we will explore the causes of ineffectiveness in water governance at different levels. Fourth, students will develop an in-depth understanding of the nexus between water governance, environmental conservation, pollution management, and peace by examining specific cases, including plastics in the ocean and mangroves. Through an individual research project (research paper or oral presentation), students will conduct a qualitative analysis, applying governance frameworks to single-case or cross-case comparisons, and present their (preliminary) findings in class. Students will also participate in interactive, class-based role-playing simulations. By the end of the course, students will be able to draw comparisons across institutional frameworks, apply governance modes to empirical cases, and evaluate policy successes and failures. The seminar supports students in the process of conceiving, designing, and writing the thesis, complementing the input they receive from their supervisors. The thesis seminar consists of three workshops: In the first workshop students present their thesis topic and initial ideas about how to tackle it. The second workshop gives students an opportunity to present and discuss their fully elaborated research design, i.e. precise statements of their (final) research question, its (normative, scientific, or practical) relevance, its place in the literature, their working hypothesis (or hypotheses), the role of theory in their study, the methods they are employing and the reasons for choosing them, the data they are using, etc. Finally, the third workshop is devoted to discussing interim results of students’ investigation on the basis of a “writing sample”, i.e. a draft of the introduction or of a key chapter. In each workshop, students receive feedback from the instructor and their fellow students intended to help them identify problems in their arguments and possible solutions to these problems.

3 CP: three progress reports

This course wants to enable students to run their own (quantitative) research project in R. In the process, they will learn basic data wrangling and data visualisation in R. Every student will choose a project that they want to conduct using publicly available data of their choosing (some examples will be provided) and will, in consultation with the course coordinator, work towards a project report at the end of the course that they will present to the other students. Students will analyse their data in the open-source programme R and will be encouraged to write their final reports in it, too. The course will be a mixture of lectures on practical issues and a project based working sessions in exchange with the course coordinator and other students to make use of peer-to-peer learning. The lecture will be tailored to the needs and levels of the participating students.

In this course students are encouraged to run their own small-scale analysis project using R from beginning to end: choosing a topic and research question they find interesting, selecting and downloading the relevant data, using simple (presumably mostly) descriptive statistics such as means, and writing a report about their findings. They will be encouraged to use Quarto/ Rmarkdown, the integrated tool within R-Studio, to write their final reports and export them into PDF to automatically integrate updated findings. Also, students will be encouraged to upload and maintain their project on git. This course teaches practical skills and combines it with theoretical grounding in reproducible science. Hence it can be used as a good foundation for quantitative bachelor or master theses, and to learn skills that can be used also outside of academia.

Students can take the course for 3 CP or 6 CP. The final assessment will depend on the amount of CP students chose. Both assessments include the simple progress report every two weeks (just about one paragraph in an unstructured form, including reasons for no progress, which will always happen, is no problem and part of the process) and the final script of the project. Beyond that, the two different levels encompass the following two assessments:

6 CP:
• Long presentation (20 minutes)

Das Seminar führt in die Strukturen und Funktionen der EU ein. Es ist parallel zur Vorlesung 08-26-M4-1 „Einführung in das politische System der Europäischen Union” konzipiert. Während die Vorlesung einen generellen Überblick über EU-Institutionen und Politiken gibt, untersucht das Seminar diese Institutionen und Politiken anhand konkreter Beispiele. Während Sie in der Vorlesung vor allen Dingen zuhören und die Pflichtlektüre lesen müssen, werden Sie in dem Seminar selber aktiv, analysieren Texte im Unterricht, stellen Ihre Ergebnisse vor und diskutieren sie mit Ihren Kommilitonen. Natürlich kann das Seminar auch belegt werden, ohne die Vorlesung zu besuchen.
Jede Sitzung gliedert sich in drei Teile. Zunächst wird ganz kurz das Thema der Sitzung vorgestellt, also die EU-Institution, um die es geht oder das Politikfeld, das analysiert werden soll. Dann werten Sie einzeln oder in Gruppenarbeit ein EU-Dokument im Hinblick auf eine bestimmte Fragestellung aus. Schließlich tragen Sie Ihre Ergebnisse vor, vergleichen sie mit den Ergebnissen von anderen, und erörtern mögliche politische oder gesellschaftliche Folgen.

The class provides an introduction to core concepts of international relations theory. The focus is on what different theories consider to be the key drivers of international and transnational relations. global politics, focusing on key concepts and issues of theories of international relations: states, sovereignty, conflict, cooperation, international institutions, non-governmental organizations, delegation and (indirect) global governance. The course starts with a focus on classical, Western literatures but concludes with sessions on gender, race, colonialism and the end of the Western-dominated liberal international order. By the end of the course, students will be able to understand and apply the key concepts in their own research.

Reseearch paper:Each student submits a brief paper at the end of the seminar. The paper should engage with one of the readings of this class, summarize the main argument and comment on it. Grading will consider the rigor of the analysis, and the quality of writing. The word limit is 3000 words everything included. Each student presents his or her paper idea in a short presentation during the final session. .

By 2026, diagnoses of a terminal crisis of the “international rules-based order” have become ubiquitous. This seminar investigates the causes and consequences of the upheaval currently unfolding in the international political and economic system through an in-depth reading of three major works: Branko Milanović’s The Great Global Transformation, Matthew C. Klein and Michael Pettis’s Trade Wars Are Class Wars, and Giovanni Arrighi’s Adam Smith in Beijing. Sharing the premise that the politics of the present can only be understood in light of international and world-economic dynamics, these texts direct our attention to global inequality, global imbalances, and global hegemony as deep structural forces shaping the current conjuncture. The seminar asks how these forces have produced the present crisis and how they delimit the range of possible futures.

Maps are powerful tools for understanding and communicating political phenomena. In this block seminar you will learn to use the statistical software R to produce customisable, publication-quality maps and other data visualisations. No prior knowledge of R is required. Participants are encouraged to use data from their own research projects, but test datasets will also be provided.

Für die Sozialwissenschaften sind Texte eine ganz wesentliche Datenbasis. Lange Zeit be-
schränkte sich die Analyse von Texten (Parteiprogrammen, Reden, Parlamentsdebatten, Zei-
tungsberichten, etc.) vor allem auf die qualitative Analyse von Textinhalten. Die Konsequenz
daraus war, dass wissenschaftliche Studien fast immer nur ein kleine Auswahl der potenziell
relevanten Texte einbeziehen konnten, die dann einer detaillierteren Analyse unterzogen wur-
den. Seit einigen Jahren sind allerdings Tools verfügbar, mit denen große Textmengen unter-
sucht werden können. Dabei kommen zum einen statistische Verfahren zu Einsatz, die auf der
Basis von Worthäufigkeiten und/oder Wortverteilungen in Texten Aussagen über in den Tex-
ten angesprochene Themen oder die politische Position der AutorInnen machen. Zum anderen
gibt es Versuche, aus der qualitativen Forschung kommende Textannotationsverfahren zu au-
tomatisieren und dadurch zu Aussagen über die Entwicklung und Struktur von Debatten zu
kommen. Ziel des Seminars ist es, eine anwendungsorientierte Einführung in verschiedene
Technikern der quantitativen Textanalyse zu geben, sowohl auf statistischen Verfahren als

Ziel dieses Kurses ist es, eine grundlegende Einführung in die verhaltensorientierte Verwaltungswissenschaft zu geben und die Studierenden zu befähigen, diesen Erklärungsansatz auf aktuelle Problem- und Fragestellungen der öffentlichen Verwaltung und insbesondere der Arbeits- und Sozialverwaltung in Deutschland anzuwenden. Die verhaltensorientierte Verwaltungswissenschaft ist ein innovatives Forschungsfeld innerhalb der Verwaltungswissenschaft, das verhaltenswissenschaftliche Erkenntnisse zur Untersuchung des Verwaltungshandelns nutzt (eng. Behavioral Public Administration). Der Kurs gliedert sich in zwei Teile: Der erste Teil bietet eine Einführung in die grundlegenden Theorien bürokratischen Verhaltens. Dazu werden die Studierenden mit den Grundannahmen und wichtigsten Erkenntnissen der verschiedenen Mikrofundierungen administrativen Handelns vertraut gemacht. Seminar mit Texten, Übungen und Exkursionen (Aufführungsbesuche)
für TN des Zertifikatsstudiums "Performance und Theater in Schule" (PuTS, Darstellendes Spiel)

Das Seminar vertieft und schärft das Betrachten von und das Sprechen über Theater, Performance und Tanz. In den Wochenendblöcken beschäftigen wir uns mit der Theorie.
Wir widmen uns Grundbegriffen der Theaterwissenschaften und Performance Studies, besprechen dramaturgische Grundlagen und wagen einen Blick in die Theatergeschichte. Darüber hinaus werden auch theoretische Grundlagen der Theaterpädagogik Thema sein.
Begleitend werden gemeinsam verschiedene Aufführungen besucht und besprochen, um die theoretisch erarbeiteten Inhalte in der Praxis zu erleben. Die Auswahl der zu besuchenden Inszenierungen erfolgt im Laufe des Semesters.

Das Seminar ist Teil des Studienprogramms „Performance und Theater in Schule (PuTS)“. Darüber hinaus ist es für Studierende aller Fachrichtungen offen und für den Bereich General Studies anrechenbar.

Wer möchte sich gerne verantwortungsvoll für ein Kind im Grundschulalter engagieren? Im Rahmen des Mentorenprogramms "Balu und Du" erhalten Studierende die Möglichkeit, als Paten, einmal in der Woche, ehrenamtlich, Zeit mit einem Schulkind zu verbringen. Diese Paten bzw. Balus bringen Bewegung und Abwechslung in den konkreten Alltag der Patenkinder bzw. Moglis. Balu und Mogli treffen sich zuverlässig über einen Zeitraum von einen Jahr. Die Patenschaft endet nach 30 Treffen mit dem Mogli-Kind.

Für Moglis ist es eine ganz besondere Gelegenheit eine etwas andere Welt kennenzulernen. Durch die Freundschaft mit ihrem Balu entsteht häufig ein Entwicklungsschub. Sie wirken in der Schule konzentrierte, offener und konfliktfähiger.

Das bundesweite Mentorenprogramm "Balu und Du" besteht seit 2002. Menschen an 70 Standorten in Deutschland engagieren sich dafür, dass es Kindern in besonderen Lebenslagen besser geht. Seit 2008 wird das Konzept des Mentorenprogramms von der Freiwilligen-Agentur Bremen umgesetzt.

Der Fachbereich Sozialwissenschaften fördert das ehrenamtliche Engagement von Studierenden, insbesondere im Rahmen des Mentorenprogramm. Daher besteht eine Kooperation mit der Freiwilligen-Agentur Bremen.

Das Begleitseminar dient der Supervision sowie der Vor- und Nachbereitung der Patinnen und Paten für die anspruchvolle Rolle des Balus. Die geplanten Supervisionstermine finden in der Freiwilligen-Agentur Bremen, Dammweg 18-20, 28211 Bremen statt.

Der Veranstaltungsort für die Auftaktveranstaltung am 21.04.2025 ist die Universität Bremen oder die Freiwilligen-Agentur Bremen, Dammweg 18-20, 28211 Bremen. Die Auswahl- und Informationsgespräche können bereits vor der Auftaktveranstaltung mit Claudia Fantz vereinbart werden.

Der Fachbereich Sozialwissenschaften (FB 08) fördert das studentische Ehrenamt, da das zivilgesellschaftlichen Engagement zunehmend an Bedeutung für das Gemeinwohl gewinnt. Die Motivation von Studierenden, sich beispielsweise sinnstiftend für andere Menschen einzusetzen, politisch Einfluß zu nehmen, gesellschaftliche Partzipationsprozesse mitzugestalten oder einen humanitären Beitrag für die Gemeinschaft zu leisten, soll somit gewürdigt werden.

Außerdem bietet das freiwilligen Engagement die Möglichkeit praktische Erfahrungen zu sammeln und Fähigkeiten zu erlangen, die nützlich für die berufliche Orientierung oder für den Berufseinstieg sein können.

Teilnehmen können Studierende, die sich bereits ehrenamtlich engagieren oder ein zivilgesellschaftliches Engagment planen. Das bereits ausgeübte Ehrenamt wird zu Beginn der Veranstaltung angemeldet. Die Genehmigung erfolgt, wenn das Engagement den Anforderungen entspricht. Ehrenämter, die in der Vergangenheit ausgeübt wurden, können nicht nachträglich anerkannt werden. Zudem ist das Engagement in politischen Parteien von der Anerkennung ausgenommen.

Studierende, die gerne eine ehrenamtliche Tätigkeit ausüben möchten, werden im Begleitseminar bei der Suche nach einer passenden Einrichtung, Organisation oder Initiative unterstützt. Die Veranstaltung findet in Kooperation mit der Freiwilligen Agentur Bremen statt.

Der Einsatz bei einer entsprechenden Einrichung wird mit drei CP gewürdigt, wenn 90 Stunden innerhalb eines Jahres geleistet und von der Einrichtung bescheinigt wurden. Anforderung ist zudem einen Reflexionsbericht zu verfassen.

Dieses Begleitseminar richtet sich ausschließlich an Studierende im FB 08. Die Teilnehmerzahl ist begrenzt. Teilnahmebedingung ist die Bereitschaft eine ehrenamtliche Tätigkeit auszuüben. Am 18.04.2025 werden die Leistungsanforderungen erläutern.

Internationales Projektmanagement ist eine Schlüsselqualifikation für das Arbeiten in internationalen Kontexten sowie in und mit internationalen Organisationen. Politische, wirtschaftliche sowie wissenschaftliche grenzüberschreitende Kooperationen werden projektbezogen geplant, finanziert, umgesetzt sowie evaluiert. Diesen Projektzyklus gilt es gemeinsam mit Partnern und Zielgruppen wirkungsorientiert zu gestalten und dabei den Vorgaben der Geber gerecht zu werden.

Das Seminar vermittelt Grundlagen und praktische Kenntnisse einer wirkungsorientierten Planung und Umsetzung von internationalen Projekten vermitteln. Hierzu gehört zunächst die Auseinandersetzung mit den Voraussetzungen bzw. Rahmenbedingungen für die Durchführung von Kooperationsprojekten. Das Seminar behandelt entsprechend das internationale Geberumfeld sowie die dazugehörigen Finanzierungsinstrumente, ebenso die aktuellen Herausforderungen der internationalen Entwicklungszusammenarbeit, den funktionalen, arbeitsteiligen Aufbau internationaler NGOs sowie verschiedene Projektansätze und Entwicklungen zur Bearbeitung internationaler Herausforderungen (Single-, Multi-Country und Konsortial-Projekte, Nexus-sowie Programmansätze, Lokalisierungsbestrebungen).

Die verschiedenen Phasen des Project Cycle Managements werden rekapituliert, um anschließend wesentliche Elemente (und Kompetenzen) wirkungsorientierter Projektplanung anhand praktischer Beispiele und Aufgaben einzuüben. Die Theory of Change wird zunächst als theoretischer Rahmen für Modelle zur Entwicklung von Interventionslogiken in internationalen Kontexten vorgestellt. Praktische Übungen zur Entwicklung von Wirkungsketten, Logical Frameworks sowie der Budgetierung von Projekten und der Erstellung von Monitoring-Systemen stehen im Mittelpunkt des Seminars.

Das Seminar richtet sich an Studierende mit Interesse an internationaler Zusammenarbeit. Grundlagenwissen im Projektmanagement ist hilfreich, jedoch keine Voraussetzung zur Teilnahme. Der Fokus des Seminars liegt auf der internationalen Entwicklungszusammenarbeit. Die vermittelten Methoden und Kompetenzen sind jedoch auch auf internationale Projekte im Rahmen des Wissenschaftsmanagements anwendbar. Hierzu wird durchgehend Bezug genommen.

Das Seminar versteht sich als Salon, als Denklabor, das sich mit Fragen rund um die Relevanz und Wirkungskraft von Theater und Performance in der gegenwärtigen gesellschaftlichen Situation befasst. Umgekehrt fragen wir auch, worauf sich unser gegenwärtiges Theaterverständnis überhaupt gründet und welche dieser Theorien uns für die Praxis noch sinnstiftend erscheinen: Brauchen wir zum Beispiel ein distanzierendes Theater (Brecht)? Gibt es ein heiliges Theater (Brook)? Was ist ein Theater der Grausamkeit (Artaud)? Sollte man überhaupt noch Theater machen oder müssten wir neue Interaktionsformen (er)finden, um gesellschaftliche Verständigungsprozesse anzuregen? Angelehnt an Schechners These, „performance is showing doing“, werden wir auch praktische Übungen auswerten und aktuelle Inszenierungen und andere kulturelle Interaktionsformen dahingehend befragen, inwiefern sie gesellschaftliche Wirklichkeit gegenwärtig mitgestalten (können).

Das Seminar heißt Studierende aller Fachrichtungen mit und ohne Vorkenntnisse willkommen und lädt zum interdisziplinären Dialog über die Mitgestaltung kollektiver Wirklichkeiten ein.

Die Veranstaltung wird möglicherweise außerhalb der Universität im städtischen Raum stattfinden, der Veranstaltungsort wird in dem Fall noch bekanntgegeben!

Das Studio des Theaters der Versammlung verbindet eine untersuchende Form der Theaterarbeit mit dem wissenschaftlichen Studium. Es entwickelt szenische Aktionen, Theater und Performances für eine kontext- und dialogorientierte Aufführungspraxis.

Biologische Vielfalt ist die Grundlage gesunder Ökosysteme, nicht nur im tropischen Regenwald oder in den Polarregionen, sondern auch direkt vor unserer Haustür. Artenvielfalt sichert unsere Lebensgrundlagen, stabilisiert ökologische Kreisläufe und trägt zu Lebensqualität bei. Doch aktuell erleben wir weltweit und auch in Deutschland einen massiven Rückgang an Biodiversität. Ursachen sind unter anderem Lebensraumverlust durch Bebauung und Intensivlandwirtschaft, Umweltverschmutzung, Klimawandel und die Ausbreitung invasiver Arten. Aus diesen Entwicklungen erwachsen dringende Notwendigkeiten für Schutz- und Erhaltungsmaßnahmen – lokal wie global.
In diesem Projektseminar erkunden wir zentrale Orte urbaner Biodiversität in Bremen: von naturnah gestalteten Gärten über innerstädtische Naturschutzgebiete bis hin zu ökologisch wertvollen Brachflächen. In Zusammenarbeit mit Praxispartner*innen wie dem BUND, NABU, der Landesjägerschaft Bremen und weiteren Initiativen lernen die Studierenden die Rolle und Bedeutung dieser Orte kennen, diskutieren aktuelle Herausforderungen im Artenschutz und setzen sich mit konkreten Maßnahmen auseinander. Bei praktischen Pflegearbeiten und Forschungsaufgaben packen die Teilnehmenden selbst mit an und erfahren, wie Schutzstrategien vor Ort umgesetzt werden können.
Das Seminar verbindet fachliche Einblicke, Exkursionen und praxisorientiertes Lernen mit der Reflexion über die eigene Rolle im gesellschaftlichen Engagement für Biodiversität – und trägt so zum Erwerb zentraler Kompetenzen im Bereich Nachhaltigkeit bei.

Welche Fähigkeiten muss ein PR-Redakteur*in haben? Wie sieht der Arbeitsalltag eines*r Pressesprechers*in in der Politik aus? Unterscheidet sich die Öffentlichkeitsarbeit eines Theaters von der eines Unternehmens? Diese und viele weitere Fragen rund um die Berufsfelder der Public Relations werden wir im Verlauf des Seminars gemeinsam stellen und beantworten.

Dieses Seminar richtet sich ausschliesslich an Studierende im FB 8. Die Teilnehmerzahl ist begrenzt. Teilnahmebedingung ist die Bereitschaft zur aktiven Mitarbeit, zur Teamarbeit und zur Einhaltung von Vereinbarungen. Am 13.04.2026 werden die Regeln fuer die Teilnahme und die Leistungsanforderungen vereinbart.

Am 20.10.2025 werden die Teams gebildet, die die Aufgabe erhalten jeweils ein inhaltliches Thema zu bearbeiten. Ergänzend dazu werden Interviews mit Experten aus der Praxis geführt. Die Arbeitsergebnisse der Teams werden dem Plenum anschaulich vermittelt. Fuer ihren Vortrag erhalten die Teams ein ausführliches Feedback. Für die zweite Haelfte der Veranstaltungszeit ist eine Exkursion in einem Betrieb oder einer Organisation vorgesehen.

Das Seminar beschäftigt sich mit dem Verhältnis von Mobilität und Autoritarismus. Dies ist aktuell besonders relevant, weil rechte und rechtsradikale Politik fast ausschließlich auf die Verteidigung des motorisierten Individualverkehrs setzt – obwohl sich dazu auf den ersten Blick kein interner Zusammenhang erkennen lässt.

Die Bedeutung des Autos für den Faschismus ist sozial- und geisteswissenschaftlich bislang kaum untersucht – und wenn, dann eher aus historischem Interesse (z.B. die Entwicklung des Volkswagens). Deshalb wollen wir dieses Verhältnis für die Gegenwart anhand der folgenden drei Dimensionen analysieren:

1. Die Rolle von Subjektivität und Identität: wie trägt das Auto dazu bei, vor allem Männlichkeit, verstanden als Position im Geschlechterverhältnis, als erstrebenswerte Norm zu reproduzieren und zu stabilisieren? Was macht das Auto männlich?

2. Damit verknüpft ist die Rolle der Ästhetik und der Ästhetisierung. Sowohl diesseits als auch jenseits des Autos stellt sich die Frage, mit welchen Mitteln sich der Faschismus als erstrebens- und begehrenswert inszeniert.

3. Ein qualitative Veränderung ist die Rolle der Technologie. Zwar hat Technologie in allen Arten des Faschismus eine zentrale Rolle gespielt. Aber gerade die Elektromobilität (man denke an Tesla) befindet sich hier neuerdings in einem merkwürdig ambigen Zustand zwischen Technologiebegeisterung und ihrer Ablehnung, den es zu verstehen gilt.

Die Leitfrage im Hintergrund lautet: Inwiefern steht das Auto, aber auch Mobilität ganz allgemein, im Mittelpunkt eines Kulturkampfs zwischen Faschismus und Antifaschismus? Dies wollen wir gemeinsam im Seminar soweit möglich beantworten.

Das Seminar verläuft entlang der drei oben genannten Dimensionen: 1. Subjektivität, 2. Ästhetik, 3. Technologie und ergänzt es um eine weitere, um im Kontrast des Bestehenden den Blick für mögliche Alternativen zu schärfen: 4. Utopien. Hier werfen wir abschließend einen Blick auf die Möglichkeiten von Mobilität jenseits autozentrierter Praktiken.

Wir wollen im Sinne des forschenden Lernens über verschiedene Formate projektbasiert direkt in die Stadt hineingehen. Zu den ersten drei Blöcken wird es jeweils einen Grundlagentext (voraussichtlich Deleuze/Theweleit, Connell und Amlinger/Nachtwey/ Mühlhoff) geben, auf den die Studierenden sich in den Sitzungsgestaltungen beziehen sollen. Die grundsätzliche Gestaltung der Sitzungen bleibt aber frei und richtet sich nach den Interessen der Studierenden. So haben wir im vergangenen Semester z.B. ein Parkhaus als Angstraum besucht sowie verschiedene problematische Verkehrspunkte in Bremen (u.a. am Stern, Sielwall, Herdentor). Wir haben auch Filmszenen, Musik, Kinderspielzeug, Werbung und politische Propaganda (z.B. die Vereinnahmung der Simson durch die AfD) analysiert, welche von den Studierenden eingebracht wurden. Ein ähnlich interaktives und aktivierendes Format wollen wir auch in diesem Semester beibehalten.

Abschluss des Seminars ist eine gemeinschaftlich gestaltete Ausstellung (Gallery Walk), in der die Studierenden eigenständig ausgewählte Aspekte des Themas visuell, medial oder installativ aufbereiten. Hier soll man sich bewusst kreativ entfalten dürfen! Dabei sollen theoretische Konzepte (mindestens einer der Grundlagentexte) sowie eigene Erfahrungen und Überlegungen kreativ verknüpft und umgesetzt werden. Die Ausstellung bildet gleichzeitig den letzten Teil der Studienleistung.

Storytelling ist zu einem wichtigen Instrument der Kommunikation, der Präsentation und damit des Erfolgs geworden. Teambesprechungen, Projektplanung, Bewerbungsgespräch, Problemlösungen – die Bereiche, in denen Storytelling angewandt wird, sind so vielfältig wie die möglichen Inhalte einer Story. Der Aufbau einer guten Geschichte allerdings ist immer gleich. Wer diese Struktur beherrscht, begeistert und überzeugt seine Zuhörer. Wie erzähle ich eine Geschichte, wie erreiche ich meine Zielgruppe, wo setze ich Storytelling ein? Mit praktischen Übungen von der Selbstpräsentation über die Filmanalyse und das Texten bis zum eigenen Sprechen sowie fundiertem Hintergrundwissen liefert das Seminar Storytelling das perfekte Handwerkszeug für den Erfolg der eigenen Geschichte.

Teamarbeit begegnet uns überall – sowohl im beruflichen als auch im privaten Bereich. Jeder kennt frustrierende Gruppenarbeiten aus der Schulzeit, dem Ehrenamt, dem (Neben)Job oder dem Studium. Aber wie können Gruppenarbeiten positiv gestaltet – und zu echter Teamarbeit werden?
Wie wird aus einer Gruppe von Menschen ein wirkliches Team, das ein Projekt zu einem erfolgreichen Abschluss bringt? Was macht gute Teamarbeit und gute Führung aus? Wie kann man ein Team im Projektverlauf immer wieder motivieren und Konflikten vorbeugen? Und wenn Konflikte aufkommen, wie können sie wirkungsvoll gelöst werden? Welchen Beitrag kann ich persönlich zu einer gelungenen Teamarbeit leisten – als Teammitglied oder als verantwortliche Teamleitung?
Teamfähigkeit ist eine der Schlüsselkompetenzen für beruflichen Erfolg. Damit eng verbunden sind die Themen Kommunikation, Führung, Motivation und Konfliktmanagement. Aber ein gutes Teammitglied muss auch in der Lage sein, selbständig zu arbeiten und seine Aufgaben zu erfüllen. Deshalb werden auch Themen wir Organisation und Zeitmanagement angesprochen.

Sie erhalten vielfältiges Hintergrundwissen zu den genannten Themen und werden für die Zusammenhänge der „soften Aspekte im Projektmanagement“ sensibilisiert, um künftige Gruppenarbeiten und Projekte in einem funktionierenden Team erfolgreich zu gestalten. Zudem arbeiten Sie während des gesamten Semesters in Teams zusammen und erfahren, wie gut Teamarbeit funktionieren kann. Das Seminar ist eine Kombination aus Wissensinput, Selbsterfahrung als Mitglied in einem Projektteam und Echtzeit-Reflektion.

Der klimafreundliche Umbau unserer Gesellschaft und die Anpassung an die Erdüberhitzung stellen große und somit herausfordernde Veränderungen dar. Damit diese Klimawende gut gelingt, braucht es gute Klimakommunikation. Das bedeutet, die Perspektive des Gegenübers bzw. der Zielgruppe einzunehmen, realistische kommunikative Ziele zu setzen und motivierend zu kommunizieren. Dies gilt für jegliche Kommunikation, ob Gespräch, Pressemitteilung oder Kampagne und selbst für interne Kommunikation in der Entwicklung von Klimawende-Maßnahmen. Und es gilt für alle Zielgruppen, sei es z.B. die Verwaltung, politische Akteur*innen, Menschen aus dem privaten oder beruflichen Umfeld oder Bürger*innen. Gute Klimakommunikation bedeutet auch, gesellschaftlichen Zusammenhalt zu stärken und Desinformation und Hass Einhalt zu gebieten.

Im Workshop werden wir uns mit den Grundlagen und Rahmenbedingungen für wirksame Klimakommunikation beschäftigen. Wir werden uns gesellschaftliche Gruppen anschauen. Thematisiert wird auch der Umgang mit Widerständen und Desinformation, Resilienz und Selbstreflexion. Etliches davon ist auch für andere Themen übertragbar.

Der Workshop ist interaktiv und es gibt Raum, um Klimakommunikation an einem selbst gewählten Beispiel anzuwenden und zu üben.

Power is a core concept of the social sciences. At the same time, it is highly – perhaps “essentially” – contested. International Relations (IR) is no exception in this regard. What may add to the confusion is that, when reading IR theory, you may be left with two contradictory impressions: on the one hand, it may appear as though a concern with power – its sources, forms, and consequences – is the hallmark of a particular school of thought, to wit realism; on the other hand, you may just as easily be led to conclude that power operates as a shared point of reference of all IR theories, which, however, conceive of it in very different ways. In this seminar, we will first familiarize ourselves with competing or complementary concepts (or theories) of power that have gained traction in IR. Subsequently, we will examine how different notions of power play out in substantive research on world politics, with an emphasis on the sub-field of global governance.

History and theory are often treated as opposites. History is about the particular, and time- and space-specific. Theory is about the general, and time- and space-invariant. Yet, theory develops in historical time. The questions it tries to answer, and the generalizations it tries to develop reflect the historical context of discovery, and the specific phenomena and problems that made this context distinct. By reading major contributions to integration theory in the rough chronological order of their publication, this class helps to reconstruct not only the history of theory development in EU studies but also the history of the EU itself from the 1950s to the present day.

• Response paper: Each student has to prepare one response paper over the course of the seminar. The paper is 1-2 pages long and offers a critique of an assigned reading. The response paper should be uploaded on StudIP the day before the session in which the reading is due. The student should be prepared to briefly summarize and defend his or her criticism in class.
• Paper prospectus: Each student has to present his or her paper idea (research question and approach) during the last session of the class. More information during class.
• Research paper: each student has to write a 3000 words (all included) research paper on a topic related to the contents of the class.

The goal of the seminar is for students to (a) understand the main features of the EU’s economic governance, (b) become familiar with main theoretical approaches used to study the EU’s political economy, and © learn how to formulate and critically assess answers to political economy questions about the EU’s economic governance. The weekly two-hour seminar will be held in English and consists, broadly speaking, of two main parts. The first part will cover key background elements of the EU’s political economy and an overview of theoretical approaches used to study it. The second part will cover specific areas of economic policy (e.g., monetary policy, social policy, single market policy, trade & investment policy, industrial policy) and evaluate academic articles that study those policy fields.

This course provides an understanding of how transnational and transboundary waters are governed. First, students will develop a foundation in the relevant concepts, as well as the theoretical and practical frameworks of water governance. Second, we will examine the various actors involved at the global, national, and subnational levels, their interests, and the institutional frameworks that govern transnational and transboundary waters. Third, by analyzing selected transboundary waters and the ocean, we will explore the causes of ineffectiveness in water governance at different levels. Fourth, students will develop an in-depth understanding of the nexus between water governance, environmental conservation, pollution management, and peace by examining specific cases, including plastics in the ocean and mangroves. Through an individual research project (research paper or oral presentation), students will conduct a qualitative analysis, applying governance frameworks to single-case or cross-case comparisons, and present their (preliminary) findings in class. Students will also participate in interactive, class-based role-playing simulations. By the end of the course, students will be able to draw comparisons across institutional frameworks, apply governance modes to empirical cases, and evaluate policy successes and failures. In this way, students will strengthen both their analytical and practical understanding of contemporary water governance issues and be able to formulate policy recommendations.

The seminar supports students in the process of conceiving, designing, and writing the thesis, complementing the input they receive from their supervisors. The thesis seminar consists of three workshops: In the first workshop students present their thesis topic and initial ideas about how to tackle it. The second workshop gives students an opportunity to present and discuss their fully elaborated research design, i.e. precise statements of their (final) research question, its (normative, scientific, or practical) relevance, its place in the literature, their working hypothesis (or hypotheses), the role of theory in their study, the methods they are employing and the reasons for choosing them, the data they are using, etc. Finally, the third workshop is devoted to discussing interim results of students’ investigation on the basis of a “writing sample”, i.e. a draft of the introduction or of a key chapter. In each workshop, students receive feedback from the instructor and their fellow students intended to help them identify problems in their arguments and possible solutions to these problems.

3 CP: three progress reports

This course wants to enable students to run their own (quantitative) research project in R. In the process, they will learn basic data wrangling and data visualisation in R. Every student will choose a project that they want to conduct using publicly available data of their choosing (some examples will be provided) and will, in consultation with the course coordinator, work towards a project report at the end of the course that they will present to the other students. Students will analyse their data in the open-source programme R and will be encouraged to write their final reports in it, too. The course will be a mixture of lectures on practical issues and a project based working sessions in exchange with the course coordinator and other students to make use of peer-to-peer learning. The lecture will be tailored to the needs and levels of the participating students.

In this course students are encouraged to run their own small-scale analysis project using R from beginning to end: choosing a topic and research question they find interesting, selecting and downloading the relevant data, using simple (presumably mostly) descriptive statistics such as means, and writing a report about their findings. They will be encouraged to use Quarto/ Rmarkdown, the integrated tool within R-Studio, to write their final reports and export them into PDF to automatically integrate updated findings. Also, students will be encouraged to upload and maintain their project on git. This course teaches practical skills and combines it with theoretical grounding in reproducible science. Hence it can be used as a good foundation for quantitative bachelor or master theses, and to learn skills that can be used also outside of academia.

Students can take the course for 3 CP or 6 CP. The final assessment will depend on the amount of CP students chose. Both assessments include the simple progress report every two weeks (just about one paragraph in an unstructured form, including reasons for no progress, which will always happen, is no problem and part of the process) and the final script of the project. Beyond that, the two different levels encompass the following two assessments:

3 CP:
• Short presentation (10 minutes)
• Short final research note with references (~5 pages, at least one high-quality graph)
6 CP:
• Long presentation (20 minutes)
• Long final research note with references (~10 pages, at least two high-quality graphs)

Das Seminar führt in die Strukturen und Funktionen der EU ein. Es ist parallel zur Vorlesung 08-26-M4-1 „Einführung in das politische System der Europäischen Union” konzipiert. Während die Vorlesung einen generellen Überblick über EU-Institutionen und Politiken gibt, untersucht das Seminar diese Institutionen und Politiken anhand konkreter Beispiele. Während Sie in der Vorlesung vor allen Dingen zuhören und die Pflichtlektüre lesen müssen, werden Sie in dem Seminar selber aktiv, analysieren Texte im Unterricht, stellen Ihre Ergebnisse vor und diskutieren sie mit Ihren Kommilitonen. Natürlich kann das Seminar auch belegt werden, ohne die Vorlesung zu besuchen.
Jede Sitzung gliedert sich in drei Teile. Zunächst wird ganz kurz das Thema der Sitzung vorgestellt, also die EU-Institution, um die es geht oder das Politikfeld, das analysiert werden soll. Dann werten Sie einzeln oder in Gruppenarbeit ein EU-Dokument im Hinblick auf eine bestimmte Fragestellung aus. Schließlich tragen Sie Ihre Ergebnisse vor, vergleichen sie mit den Ergebnissen von anderen, und erörtern mögliche politische oder gesellschaftliche Folgen.

The class provides an introduction to core concepts of international relations theory. The focus is on what different theories consider to be the key drivers of international and transnational relations. global politics, focusing on key concepts and issues of theories of international relations: states, sovereignty, conflict, cooperation, international institutions, non-governmental organizations, delegation and (indirect) global governance. The course starts with a focus on classical, Western literatures but concludes with sessions on gender, race, colonialism and the end of the Western-dominated liberal international order. By the end of the course, students will be able to understand and apply the key concepts in their own research.

By 2026, diagnoses of a terminal crisis of the “international rules-based order” have become ubiquitous. This seminar investigates the causes and consequences of the upheaval currently unfolding in the international political and economic system through an in-depth reading of three major works: Branko Milanović’s The Great Global Transformation, Matthew C. Klein and Michael Pettis’s Trade Wars Are Class Wars, and Giovanni Arrighi’s Adam Smith in Beijing. Sharing the premise that the politics of the present can only be understood in light of international and world-economic dynamics, these texts direct our attention to global inequality, global imbalances, and global hegemony as deep structural forces shaping the current conjuncture. The seminar asks how these forces have produced the present crisis and how they delimit the range of possible futures.

Maps are powerful tools for understanding and communicating political phenomena. In this block seminar you will learn to use the statistical software R to produce customisable, publication-quality maps and other data visualisations. No prior knowledge of R is required. Participants are encouraged to use data from their own research projects, but test datasets will also be provided.

Für die Sozialwissenschaften sind Texte eine ganz wesentliche Datenbasis. Lange Zeit be-
schränkte sich die Analyse von Texten (Parteiprogrammen, Reden, Parlamentsdebatten, Zei-
tungsberichten, etc.) vor allem auf die qualitative Analyse von Textinhalten. Die Konsequenz
daraus war, dass wissenschaftliche Studien fast immer nur ein kleine Auswahl der potenziell
relevanten Texte einbeziehen konnten, die dann einer detaillierteren Analyse unterzogen wur-
den. Seit einigen Jahren sind allerdings Tools verfügbar, mit denen große Textmengen unter-
sucht werden können. Dabei kommen zum einen statistische Verfahren zu Einsatz, die auf der
Basis von Worthäufigkeiten und/oder Wortverteilungen in Texten Aussagen über in den Tex-
ten angesprochene Themen oder die politische Position der AutorInnen machen. Zum anderen
gibt es Versuche, aus der qualitativen Forschung kommende Textannotationsverfahren zu au-
tomatisieren und dadurch zu Aussagen über die Entwicklung und Struktur von Debatten zu
kommen. Ziel des Seminars ist es, eine anwendungsorientierte Einführung in verschiedene
Technikern der quantitativen Textanalyse zu geben, sowohl auf statistischen Verfahren als
auch auf qualitativen Annotationen aufbauen.

Ziel dieses Kurses ist es, eine grundlegende Einführung in die verhaltensorientierte Verwaltungswissenschaft zu geben und die Studierenden zu befähigen, diesen Erklärungsansatz auf aktuelle Problem- und Fragestellungen der öffentlichen Verwaltung und insbesondere der Arbeits- und Sozialverwaltung in Deutschland anzuwenden. Die verhaltensorientierte Verwaltungswissenschaft ist ein innovatives Forschungsfeld innerhalb der Verwaltungswissenschaft, das verhaltenswissenschaftliche Erkenntnisse zur Untersuchung des Verwaltungshandelns nutzt (eng. Behavioral Public Administration). Der Kurs gliedert sich in zwei Teile: Der erste Teil bietet eine Einführung in die grundlegenden Theorien bürokratischen Verhaltens. Dazu werden die Studierenden mit den Grundannahmen und wichtigsten Erkenntnissen der verschiedenen Mikrofundierungen administrativen Handelns vertraut gemacht. Im zweiten Teil des Kurses werden exemplarische Themen wie Leistungsmessung, Öffentlichkeit, Arbeitsmotivation, Koproduktion, Servicezufriedenheit, Serviceversagen, Diskriminierung und repräsentative Bürokratie aus der Perspektive der verhaltensorientierten Verwaltungswissenschaft analysiert, um die empirische Gültigkeit dieses Erklärungsrahmens zu überprüfen.

Seminar mit Texten, Übungen und Exkursionen (Aufführungsbesuche)
für TN des Zertifikatsstudiums "Performance und Theater in Schule" (PuTS, Darstellendes Spiel)

Das Seminar vertieft und schärft das Betrachten von und das Sprechen über Theater, Performance und Tanz. In den Wochenendblöcken beschäftigen wir uns mit der Theorie.
Wir widmen uns Grundbegriffen der Theaterwissenschaften und Performance Studies, besprechen dramaturgische Grundlagen und wagen einen Blick in die Theatergeschichte. Darüber hinaus werden auch theoretische Grundlagen der Theaterpädagogik Thema sein.
Begleitend werden gemeinsam verschiedene Aufführungen besucht und besprochen, um die theoretisch erarbeiteten Inhalte in der Praxis zu erleben. Die Auswahl der zu besuchenden Inszenierungen erfolgt im Laufe des Semesters.

Das Seminar ist Teil des Studienprogramms „Performance und Theater in Schule (PuTS)“. Darüber hinaus ist es für Studierende aller Fachrichtungen offen und für den Bereich General Studies anrechenbar.

Wer möchte sich gerne verantwortungsvoll für ein Kind im Grundschulalter engagieren? Im Rahmen des Mentorenprogramms "Balu und Du" erhalten Studierende die Möglichkeit, als Paten, einmal in der Woche, ehrenamtlich, Zeit mit einem Schulkind zu verbringen. Diese Paten bzw. Balus bringen Bewegung und Abwechslung in den konkreten Alltag der Patenkinder bzw. Moglis. Balu und Mogli treffen sich zuverlässig über einen Zeitraum von einen Jahr. Die Patenschaft endet nach 30 Treffen mit dem Mogli-Kind.

Für Moglis ist es eine ganz besondere Gelegenheit eine etwas andere Welt kennenzulernen. Durch die Freundschaft mit ihrem Balu entsteht häufig ein Entwicklungsschub. Sie wirken in der Schule konzentrierte, offener und konfliktfähiger.

Das bundesweite Mentorenprogramm "Balu und Du" besteht seit 2002. Menschen an 70 Standorten in Deutschland engagieren sich dafür, dass es Kindern in besonderen Lebenslagen besser geht. Seit 2008 wird das Konzept des Mentorenprogramms von der Freiwilligen-Agentur Bremen umgesetzt.

Der Fachbereich Sozialwissenschaften fördert das ehrenamtliche Engagement von Studierenden, insbesondere im Rahmen des Mentorenprogramm. Daher besteht eine Kooperation mit der Freiwilligen-Agentur Bremen.

Das Begleitseminar dient der Supervision sowie der Vor- und Nachbereitung der Patinnen und Paten für die anspruchvolle Rolle des Balus. Die geplanten Supervisionstermine finden in der Freiwilligen-Agentur Bremen, Dammweg 18-20, 28211 Bremen statt.

Der Veranstaltungsort für die Auftaktveranstaltung am 21.04.2025 ist die Universität Bremen oder die Freiwilligen-Agentur Bremen, Dammweg 18-20, 28211 Bremen. Die Auswahl- und Informationsgespräche können bereits vor der Auftaktveranstaltung mit Claudia Fantz vereinbart werden.

Der Fachbereich Sozialwissenschaften (FB 08) fördert das studentische Ehrenamt, da das zivilgesellschaftlichen Engagement zunehmend an Bedeutung für das Gemeinwohl gewinnt. Die Motivation von Studierenden, sich beispielsweise sinnstiftend für andere Menschen einzusetzen, politisch Einfluß zu nehmen, gesellschaftliche Partzipationsprozesse mitzugestalten oder einen humanitären Beitrag für die Gemeinschaft zu leisten, soll somit gewürdigt werden.

Außerdem bietet das freiwilligen Engagement die Möglichkeit praktische Erfahrungen zu sammeln und Fähigkeiten zu erlangen, die nützlich für die berufliche Orientierung oder für den Berufseinstieg sein können.

Teilnehmen können Studierende, die sich bereits ehrenamtlich engagieren oder ein zivilgesellschaftliches Engagment planen. Das bereits ausgeübte Ehrenamt wird zu Beginn der Veranstaltung angemeldet. Die Genehmigung erfolgt, wenn das Engagement den Anforderungen entspricht. Ehrenämter, die in der Vergangenheit ausgeübt wurden, können nicht nachträglich anerkannt werden. Zudem ist das Engagement in politischen Parteien von der Anerkennung ausgenommen.

Studierende, die gerne eine ehrenamtliche Tätigkeit ausüben möchten, werden im Begleitseminar bei der Suche nach einer passenden Einrichtung, Organisation oder Initiative unterstützt. Die Veranstaltung findet in Kooperation mit der Freiwilligen Agentur Bremen statt.

Der Einsatz bei einer entsprechenden Einrichung wird mit drei CP gewürdigt, wenn 90 Stunden innerhalb eines Jahres geleistet und von der Einrichtung bescheinigt wurden. Anforderung ist zudem einen Reflexionsbericht zu verfassen.

Dieses Begleitseminar richtet sich ausschließlich an Studierende im FB 08. Die Teilnehmerzahl ist begrenzt. Teilnahmebedingung ist die Bereitschaft eine ehrenamtliche Tätigkeit auszuüben. Am 18.04.2025 werden die Leistungsanforderungen erläutern.

Internationales Projektmanagement ist eine Schlüsselqualifikation für das Arbeiten in internationalen Kontexten sowie in und mit internationalen Organisationen. Politische, wirtschaftliche sowie wissenschaftliche grenzüberschreitende Kooperationen werden projektbezogen geplant, finanziert, umgesetzt sowie evaluiert. Diesen Projektzyklus gilt es gemeinsam mit Partnern und Zielgruppen wirkungsorientiert zu gestalten und dabei den Vorgaben der Geber gerecht zu werden.

Das Seminar vermittelt Grundlagen und praktische Kenntnisse einer wirkungsorientierten Planung und Umsetzung von internationalen Projekten vermitteln. Hierzu gehört zunächst die Auseinandersetzung mit den Voraussetzungen bzw. Rahmenbedingungen für die Durchführung von Kooperationsprojekten. Das Seminar behandelt entsprechend das internationale Geberumfeld sowie die dazugehörigen Finanzierungsinstrumente, ebenso die aktuellen Herausforderungen der internationalen Entwicklungszusammenarbeit, den funktionalen, arbeitsteiligen Aufbau internationaler NGOs sowie verschiedene Projektansätze und Entwicklungen zur Bearbeitung internationaler Herausforderungen (Single-, Multi-Country und Konsortial-Projekte, Nexus-sowie Programmansätze, Lokalisierungsbestrebungen).

Die verschiedenen Phasen des Project Cycle Managements werden rekapituliert, um anschließend wesentliche Elemente (und Kompetenzen) wirkungsorientierter Projektplanung anhand praktischer Beispiele und Aufgaben einzuüben. Die Theory of Change wird zunächst als theoretischer Rahmen für Modelle zur Entwicklung von Interventionslogiken in internationalen Kontexten vorgestellt. Praktische Übungen zur Entwicklung von Wirkungsketten, Logical Frameworks sowie der Budgetierung von Projekten und der Erstellung von Monitoring-Systemen stehen im Mittelpunkt des Seminars.

Das Seminar richtet sich an Studierende mit Interesse an internationaler Zusammenarbeit. Grundlagenwissen im Projektmanagement ist hilfreich, jedoch keine Voraussetzung zur Teilnahme. Der Fokus des Seminars liegt auf der internationalen Entwicklungszusammenarbeit. Die vermittelten Methoden und Kompetenzen sind jedoch auch auf internationale Projekte im Rahmen des Wissenschaftsmanagements anwendbar. Hierzu wird durchgehend Bezug genommen.

Das Seminar versteht sich als Salon, als Denklabor, das sich mit Fragen rund um die Relevanz und Wirkungskraft von Theater und Performance in der gegenwärtigen gesellschaftlichen Situation befasst. Umgekehrt fragen wir auch, worauf sich unser gegenwärtiges Theaterverständnis überhaupt gründet und welche dieser Theorien uns für die Praxis noch sinnstiftend erscheinen: Brauchen wir zum Beispiel ein distanzierendes Theater (Brecht)? Gibt es ein heiliges Theater (Brook)? Was ist ein Theater der Grausamkeit (Artaud)? Sollte man überhaupt noch Theater machen oder müssten wir neue Interaktionsformen (er)finden, um gesellschaftliche Verständigungsprozesse anzuregen? Angelehnt an Schechners These, „performance is showing doing“, werden wir auch praktische Übungen auswerten und aktuelle Inszenierungen und andere kulturelle Interaktionsformen dahingehend befragen, inwiefern sie gesellschaftliche Wirklichkeit gegenwärtig mitgestalten (können).

Das Seminar heißt Studierende aller Fachrichtungen mit und ohne Vorkenntnisse willkommen und lädt zum interdisziplinären Dialog über die Mitgestaltung kollektiver Wirklichkeiten ein.

Die Veranstaltung wird möglicherweise außerhalb der Universität im städtischen Raum stattfinden, der Veranstaltungsort wird in dem Fall noch bekanntgegeben!

Das Studio des Theaters der Versammlung verbindet eine untersuchende Form der Theaterarbeit mit dem wissenschaftlichen Studium. Es entwickelt szenische Aktionen, Theater und Performances für eine kontext- und dialogorientierte Aufführungspraxis.

• Kenntnis und Einübung von produktionsorientierten Methoden im Umgang mit literarischen, dokumentarischen und theoretischen Texten (Inszenierungstypen, Dramaturgie), einschließlich experimenteller Formen der Theaterarbeit, die Raum, Bewegung, Zeitrhythmen, Klang als kompositorische Elemente benutzen
• Einübung und Reflexion der Fähigkeit, Strategien der Theater- und Performancekunst in unterschiedliche Berufs- und Ausbildungsfelder einzubringen

Biologische Vielfalt ist die Grundlage gesunder Ökosysteme, nicht nur im tropischen Regenwald oder in den Polarregionen, sondern auch direkt vor unserer Haustür. Artenvielfalt sichert unsere Lebensgrundlagen, stabilisiert ökologische Kreisläufe und trägt zu Lebensqualität bei. Doch aktuell erleben wir weltweit und auch in Deutschland einen massiven Rückgang an Biodiversität. Ursachen sind unter anderem Lebensraumverlust durch Bebauung und Intensivlandwirtschaft, Umweltverschmutzung, Klimawandel und die Ausbreitung invasiver Arten. Aus diesen Entwicklungen erwachsen dringende Notwendigkeiten für Schutz- und Erhaltungsmaßnahmen – lokal wie global.
In diesem Projektseminar erkunden wir zentrale Orte urbaner Biodiversität in Bremen: von naturnah gestalteten Gärten über innerstädtische Naturschutzgebiete bis hin zu ökologisch wertvollen Brachflächen. In Zusammenarbeit mit Praxispartner*innen wie dem BUND, NABU, der Landesjägerschaft Bremen und weiteren Initiativen lernen die Studierenden die Rolle und Bedeutung dieser Orte kennen, diskutieren aktuelle Herausforderungen im Artenschutz und setzen sich mit konkreten Maßnahmen auseinander. Bei praktischen Pflegearbeiten und Forschungsaufgaben packen die Teilnehmenden selbst mit an und erfahren, wie Schutzstrategien vor Ort umgesetzt werden können.
Das Seminar verbindet fachliche Einblicke, Exkursionen und praxisorientiertes Lernen mit der Reflexion über die eigene Rolle im gesellschaftlichen Engagement für Biodiversität – und trägt so zum Erwerb zentraler Kompetenzen im Bereich Nachhaltigkeit bei.

Welche Fähigkeiten muss ein PR-Redakteur*in haben? Wie sieht der Arbeitsalltag eines*r Pressesprechers*in in der Politik aus? Unterscheidet sich die Öffentlichkeitsarbeit eines Theaters von der eines Unternehmens? Diese und viele weitere Fragen rund um die Berufsfelder der Public Relations werden wir im Verlauf des Seminars gemeinsam stellen und beantworten.

Dieses Seminar richtet sich ausschliesslich an Studierende im FB 8. Die Teilnehmerzahl ist begrenzt. Teilnahmebedingung ist die Bereitschaft zur aktiven Mitarbeit, zur Teamarbeit und zur Einhaltung von Vereinbarungen. Am 13.04.2026 werden die Regeln fuer die Teilnahme und die Leistungsanforderungen vereinbart.

Am 20.10.2025 werden die Teams gebildet, die die Aufgabe erhalten jeweils ein inhaltliches Thema zu bearbeiten. Ergänzend dazu werden Interviews mit Experten aus der Praxis geführt. Die Arbeitsergebnisse der Teams werden dem Plenum anschaulich vermittelt. Fuer ihren Vortrag erhalten die Teams ein ausführliches Feedback. Für die zweite Haelfte der Veranstaltungszeit ist eine Exkursion in einem Betrieb oder einer Organisation vorgesehen.

Das Seminar beschäftigt sich mit dem Verhältnis von Mobilität und Autoritarismus. Dies ist aktuell besonders relevant, weil rechte und rechtsradikale Politik fast ausschließlich auf die Verteidigung des motorisierten Individualverkehrs setzt – obwohl sich dazu auf den ersten Blick kein interner Zusammenhang erkennen lässt.

Die Bedeutung des Autos für den Faschismus ist sozial- und geisteswissenschaftlich bislang kaum untersucht – und wenn, dann eher aus historischem Interesse (z.B. die Entwicklung des Volkswagens). Deshalb wollen wir dieses Verhältnis für die Gegenwart anhand der folgenden drei Dimensionen analysieren:

1. Die Rolle von Subjektivität und Identität: wie trägt das Auto dazu bei, vor allem Männlichkeit, verstanden als Position im Geschlechterverhältnis, als erstrebenswerte Norm zu reproduzieren und zu stabilisieren? Was macht das Auto männlich?

2. Damit verknüpft ist die Rolle der Ästhetik und der Ästhetisierung. Sowohl diesseits als auch jenseits des Autos stellt sich die Frage, mit welchen Mitteln sich der Faschismus als erstrebens- und begehrenswert inszeniert.

3. Ein qualitative Veränderung ist die Rolle der Technologie. Zwar hat Technologie in allen Arten des Faschismus eine zentrale Rolle gespielt. Aber gerade die Elektromobilität (man denke an Tesla) befindet sich hier neuerdings in einem merkwürdig ambigen Zustand zwischen Technologiebegeisterung und ihrer Ablehnung, den es zu verstehen gilt.

Die Leitfrage im Hintergrund lautet: Inwiefern steht das Auto, aber auch Mobilität ganz allgemein, im Mittelpunkt eines Kulturkampfs zwischen Faschismus und Antifaschismus? Dies wollen wir gemeinsam im Seminar soweit möglich beantworten.

Das Seminar verläuft entlang der drei oben genannten Dimensionen: 1. Subjektivität, 2. Ästhetik, 3. Technologie und ergänzt es um eine weitere, um im Kontrast des Bestehenden den Blick für mögliche Alternativen zu schärfen: 4. Utopien. Hier werfen wir abschließend einen Blick auf die Möglichkeiten von Mobilität jenseits autozentrierter Praktiken.

Wir wollen im Sinne des forschenden Lernens über verschiedene Formate projektbasiert direkt in die Stadt hineingehen. Zu den ersten drei Blöcken wird es jeweils einen Grundlagentext (voraussichtlich Deleuze/Theweleit, Connell und Amlinger/Nachtwey/ Mühlhoff) geben, auf den die Studierenden sich in den Sitzungsgestaltungen beziehen sollen. Die grundsätzliche Gestaltung der Sitzungen bleibt aber frei und richtet sich nach den Interessen der Studierenden. So haben wir im vergangenen Semester z.B. ein Parkhaus als Angstraum besucht sowie verschiedene problematische Verkehrspunkte in Bremen (u.a. am Stern, Sielwall, Herdentor). Wir haben auch Filmszenen, Musik, Kinderspielzeug, Werbung und politische Propaganda (z.B. die Vereinnahmung der Simson durch die AfD) analysiert, welche von den Studierenden eingebracht wurden. Ein ähnlich interaktives und aktivierendes Format wollen wir auch in diesem Semester beibehalten.

Abschluss des Seminars ist eine gemeinschaftlich gestaltete Ausstellung (Gallery Walk), in der die Studierenden eigenständig ausgewählte Aspekte des Themas visuell, medial oder installativ aufbereiten. Hier soll man sich bewusst kreativ entfalten dürfen! Dabei sollen theoretische Konzepte (mindestens einer der Grundlagentexte) sowie eigene Erfahrungen und Überlegungen kreativ verknüpft und umgesetzt werden. Die Ausstellung bildet gleichzeitig den letzten Teil der Studienleistung.

Storytelling ist zu einem wichtigen Instrument der Kommunikation, der Präsentation und damit des Erfolgs geworden. Teambesprechungen, Projektplanung, Bewerbungsgespräch, Problemlösungen – die Bereiche, in denen Storytelling angewandt wird, sind so vielfältig wie die möglichen Inhalte einer Story. Der Aufbau einer guten Geschichte allerdings ist immer gleich. Wer diese Struktur beherrscht, begeistert und überzeugt seine Zuhörer. Wie erzähle ich eine Geschichte, wie erreiche ich meine Zielgruppe, wo setze ich Storytelling ein? Mit praktischen Übungen von der Selbstpräsentation über die Filmanalyse und das Texten bis zum eigenen Sprechen sowie fundiertem Hintergrundwissen liefert das Seminar Storytelling das perfekte Handwerkszeug für den Erfolg der eigenen Geschichte.

Teamarbeit begegnet uns überall – sowohl im beruflichen als auch im privaten Bereich. Jeder kennt frustrierende Gruppenarbeiten aus der Schulzeit, dem Ehrenamt, dem (Neben)Job oder dem Studium. Aber wie können Gruppenarbeiten positiv gestaltet – und zu echter Teamarbeit werden?
Wie wird aus einer Gruppe von Menschen ein wirkliches Team, das ein Projekt zu einem erfolgreichen Abschluss bringt? Was macht gute Teamarbeit und gute Führung aus? Wie kann man ein Team im Projektverlauf immer wieder motivieren und Konflikten vorbeugen? Und wenn Konflikte aufkommen, wie können sie wirkungsvoll gelöst werden? Welchen Beitrag kann ich persönlich zu einer gelungenen Teamarbeit leisten – als Teammitglied oder als verantwortliche Teamleitung?
Teamfähigkeit ist eine der Schlüsselkompetenzen für beruflichen Erfolg. Damit eng verbunden sind die Themen Kommunikation, Führung, Motivation und Konfliktmanagement. Aber ein gutes Teammitglied muss auch in der Lage sein, selbständig zu arbeiten und seine Aufgaben zu erfüllen. Deshalb werden auch Themen wir Organisation und Zeitmanagement angesprochen.

Sie erhalten vielfältiges Hintergrundwissen zu den genannten Themen und werden für die Zusammenhänge der „soften Aspekte im Projektmanagement“ sensibilisiert, um künftige Gruppenarbeiten und Projekte in einem funktionierenden Team erfolgreich zu gestalten. Zudem arbeiten Sie während des gesamten Semesters in Teams zusammen und erfahren, wie gut Teamarbeit funktionieren kann. Das Seminar ist eine Kombination aus Wissensinput, Selbsterfahrung als Mitglied in einem Projektteam und Echtzeit-Reflektion.

Der klimafreundliche Umbau unserer Gesellschaft und die Anpassung an die Erdüberhitzung stellen große und somit herausfordernde Veränderungen dar. Damit diese Klimawende gut gelingt, braucht es gute Klimakommunikation. Das bedeutet, die Perspektive des Gegenübers bzw. der Zielgruppe einzunehmen, realistische kommunikative Ziele zu setzen und motivierend zu kommunizieren. Dies gilt für jegliche Kommunikation, ob Gespräch, Pressemitteilung oder Kampagne und selbst für interne Kommunikation in der Entwicklung von Klimawende-Maßnahmen. Und es gilt für alle Zielgruppen, sei es z.B. die Verwaltung, politische Akteur*innen, Menschen aus dem privaten oder beruflichen Umfeld oder Bürger*innen. Gute Klimakommunikation bedeutet auch, gesellschaftlichen Zusammenhalt zu stärken und Desinformation und Hass Einhalt zu gebieten.

Im Workshop werden wir uns mit den Grundlagen und Rahmenbedingungen für wirksame Klimakommunikation beschäftigen. Wir werden uns gesellschaftliche Gruppen anschauen. Thematisiert wird auch der Umgang mit Widerständen und Desinformation, Resilienz und Selbstreflexion. Etliches davon ist auch für andere Themen übertragbar.

Der Workshop ist interaktiv und es gibt Raum, um Klimakommunikation an einem selbst gewählten Beispiel anzuwenden und zu üben.
