Geophysics – wide-angle seismic data modelling of the Campos basin in Brazil
for a duration of 12 months starting from April 1st 2020.
This project is associated to the collection of a new offshore wide-angle data set in the Campos Basin, offshore Brazil. The data will be acquired during a combined offshore-onshore wide-angle and magnetotelluric experiment. This is a collaborative effort between the group of Geodynamics of MARUM/University of Bremen (Germany), Geomar (Germany), Ifremer (France), the University of Brazilia and the National Observatory of Brazil. The cruise will take place from the 25th of April to the 1st of June 2020. The postdoc will be based at the group of Geodynamics in MARUM led by Marta Pérez-Gussinyé. He/she will be expected to participate in the cruise and model the acquired wide-angle data. The project is originally for one year. An extension is planned for 2 years more. The objectives of the project are to map the extent of the continental crust in the Campos basin, to define the extent and nature of the continent-ocean transition and to understand the history of opening of this part of the South Atlantic and its relationship to the pre-existing tectonic structures onshore.
- Completed doctoral degree in the field of Geophysics, preferably related to modelling of seismic data.
- Experience in processes related to rifted margin formation will be will be valued.
